You’ve probably seen the Kwalee name bandied around in recent days, with them behind the likes of Scathe and Die by the Blade. Now though two more games have signed up to one of the leading games publishers, with Kwalee now also behind Wildmender and Robobeat.

Leading UK games publisher Kwalee has announced publishing deals with the developers of two enthralling new games during the Future Games Show Summer Showcase: the eco-survival adventure that is known as Wildmender, and a rhythm shooter – Robobeat. These two are added to a publishing list that already has Scathe, a thrilling retro bullet-hell FPS and Die by the Blade a fast, fun 1v1 weapons fighting game on it.

But what are these two new games all about?

Well, Wildmender will have you unearthing the past in order to protect the future. A survival exploration game with an invigorating twist, you face the challenge of restoring the environment, exploring the landscape, reviving withering plant life, cultivating your garden, and building a better world. You’ll get to do this alone or with friends in 4-player online co-op as the beautiful survival game from Muse Games looks to come to Xbox Series X|S, PS5 and PC in 2023.

The key features:

  • Survival, Crafting and Building:
    • a- Explore diverse massive procedurally generated worlds, with a unique variety of plant and animal species to discover;
    • b- Scour the landscape to obtain new seeds, discover blueprints for tools and commune with lost spirits to uncover new tools to craft, and unlock new craftable items and magical abilities;
    • c- Construct buildings, layout your irrigation system, decorate your base, and build your own custom garden;
  • Magic:
    • a- Protect your world from the corruptive influence of the wraiths using a range of weapons and magical abilities;
    • b- Befriend the local wildlife and receive magical boons in exchange;
  • Co-op multiplayer:
    • a- Build your own lush paradise in single player or develop an oasis with up to 3 friends in co-op mode;
    • b- Customize your character with crafted items and clothing.

Howard Tsao, Head of Studio, Muse Games, said: “Wildmender is everything we are about as a team – bringing people together through games, pushing the boundaries of systems driven gameplay, and caring about the environment. We are so thrilled to have Kwalee as our publisher. The Kwalee team shares our vision and passion, and everyone at Kwalee is so supportive and great to work with.”

And then we have Robobeat – a game in which you’ll want to keep your trigger finger on the pulse! See, in rhythm shooter Robobeat, it’s all about maximising your damage by shooting to the beat. Maximise your damage and shorten your cooldown time by shooting in sync. Combo off in time with the rhythm to get different tunes out of the same gun. Fast forward through procedurally generated levels, equip an arsenal of finely-tuned weapons, and accompany your arsenal with a symphony of modifications. Your playstyle is on continuous shuffle, so you never know what each new run is going to bring!

Robobeat is currently slated for a PC release.

The key features of this one include:

  • Make your enemies face the music with an orchestra of guns and melee weapons;
  • Choose from a diverse playlist to find a track that suits your playstyle;
  • Unlock new songs, weapons, and utilities as you progress through the mansion and uncover its secrets;
  • Feel the beat with environments and visuals that adapt to the music;
  • Mix it up with a range of modifications to give you an extra boost;
  • Use your smooth moves to master platforming levels.

Simon Fredholm, Founder, Robobeat, said: “I’m beyond excited to be partnering with Kwalee for Robobeat. From the very beginning, their team has understood the game on a deeper level. It’s clear from their experience that they know what they’re doing and they are not afraid to take chances, to create something fresh and new. They want to create the best games possible, which is what I’m all about too. I’ve been given the ability to create something awesome, and I’m looking forward to the future.”

MAX EVERINGHAM, Head of PC and Console Publishing at Kwalee added: “We’re very pleased and so excited to welcome our new Developer Partners, Muse Games and Simon Fredholm, to the Kwalee PC and Console Publishing Label. ‘Wildmender’ and ‘Robobeat’ are both wonderful examples of creative and innovative gameplay, yet could not be more different from each other in the entertainment experience they offer gamers. We hope gamers will embrace and love these games as much as we do when they both release next year.”
