LEGO Batman Legacy of the Dark Knight – now on Xbox and PlayStation

Batman has punched, grappled and glided his way through plenty of LEGO adventures over the years, but LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight looks determined to go much bigger than anything TT Games has attempted with the Caped Crusader before.

Available now through the Deluxe Edition ahead of the Standard Edition launch on May 22nd, the new adventure from TT Games and Warner Bros. Games drops players into a huge open-world Gotham packed with villains, vehicles, collectibles and decades of Batman history rebuilt in plastic brick form.

And yes, there are a lot of Batsuits involved.

At A Glance

  • Game: LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight
  • Developer: TT Games
  • Publisher: Warner Bros Games
  • Platforms: Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5
  • Genre: Action Adventure
  • Price: Deluxe Edition ÂŁ79.99 (Available Now) / Standard Edition launches May 22nd

Batman’s Full Journey Takes Centre Stage

Rather than focusing on a single storyline or comic era, Legacy of the Dark Knight follows Bruce Wayne’s evolution from trainee to Gotham legend.

Players experience Batman’s early years with the League of Shadows before gradually building alliances with characters including Jim Gordon, Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl and Catwoman. Along the way comes the inevitable parade of Gotham villains too, with The Joker, Bane, Mr. Freeze, Poison Ivy and Penguin all confirmed as part of the rogues gallery lineup.

Open-World Gotham Packed With Collectibles

As expected, Gotham City acts as the main playground here, with players free to explore the city using a range of iconic vehicles including Batmobiles, Batcycles and the legendary Tumbler.

The game features:

  • 7 playable heroes and allies
  • More than 100 suits inspired by Batman’s 86-year history
  • Over 20 vehicles
  • 250+ Batcave props and trophies

That Batcave customisation angle is one of the more interesting additions too, allowing players to personalise Batman’s headquarters with unlockable collectibles gathered throughout the game. See, even Batman cannot resist interior decorating now.

Deluxe Edition Adds Extra Villain Chaos

Players jumping into the Deluxe Edition immediately gain access to a sizeable amount of extra content. That includes:

  • Arkham Trilogy Pack
  • Batman Beyond Pack
  • Party Music Pack
  • Joker and Harley Quinn story expansion
  • Mayhem Mode
  • Additional villain-themed cosmetics and Batcave props

The new Joker and Harley Quinn mission specifically focuses on breaking out of Arkham Asylum, while Mayhem Mode has been crafted to let players unleash chaos across Gotham outside the main story campaign.

Standard Edition players will need to wait until May 22nd to officially join the party.

A Big Return For LEGO Batman

We first covered LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight back in 2025 when Warner Bros officially revealed the game, and it was immediately clear TT Games was aiming for something larger in scale than previous LEGO Batman outings.

That is fitting really. The LEGO Batman games have always been among TT’s strongest licensed adaptations, right back to the days of LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham.

This new release feels positioned as both a celebration of Batman’s wider legacy and a fresh start for the series on modern hardware. And, if there is one superhero built for oversized open worlds, endless collectibles and dozens upon dozens of costumes, it is probably Batman.

Stay tuned for our review of LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, but for now you can pick up the game from the Xbox Store. It’s on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5.
