Railroads Online is coming to PC, Xbox and PlayStation

Choo-choo! Railroads Online is rolling down the track, heading for full release on PC, Xbox and PlayStation real soon.

Currently in Steam Early Access, a place with which it has been calling home since 2021, Railroads Online from Stefan Kelnberger and astragon Entertainment will soon be looking to launch, in full, on PC, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. And frankly, we cannot wait.

Goodbye Early Access, Hello Full Launch

With some three years of Early Access behind it, Railroads Online has had plenty of time to hone the elements required for a cracking full launch. It’s been added to with various new features aplenty, as well as tons of content and free updates. That’s seen the introduction of new locos, more wagons, buildings, chains and good. And there is also access to a couple of new maps too.

That should mean this is a game which will let players create the railroad network of their dreams. Vastly different to the likes of Train Sim World 4, and more in line with one of our most favourite games of recent times, Train Valley 2, in Railroads Online you’ll get to work alone or with others as you make your way through a large, open experience.

It’s here where the railroad becomes your home, playing around with rails, switches, stations and trains, navigating safely and utiliising some of the most advanced physics through Unreal Engine. And as long as astragon Entertainment and Stefan Kelnberger get their way, it’ll all be happening come Fall 2024.

Key features

Railroads Online will also be found complete with dynamic weather, a day/night cycle and a revised UI, optimised for controller support as it makes the most of the power of Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. Consider the asking price of $39.99 USD and the key features should well be able to tempt you in…

  • Open sandbox game world to explore
  • Online multiplayer mode with up to 16 players
  • Build your own railroad infrastructure, including tracks, switches, stations and more
  • Authentic, detailed locomotives and equipment
  • Realistic railroad physics system and operation of locomotive controls, valves, brakes and equipment
  • Earn money by transporting goods to develop your own business and buy more locomotives, cars and equipment
  • Customizable locomotives

Coming in Fall

We’ll be sure to remind you when Railroads Online stops off at the Xbox, PlayStation and PC stations. For now, take in the trailer and let us know your thoughts.

And if you can’t wait, consider a drop into the Steam Early Access version

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
