After months of anticipation, the beta release of Legends of Runeterra was finally confirmed on January 24.

While Riot Games have confirmed that this is a near-complete version of the game, further patches will be made based on player feedback prior to the full release. Once any development issues have been ironed out, the firm will finally unveil their proposed date for the release of the complete title.

All saves made in the beta can be carried forward to the full version, and so all progression and any content earned during the ‘demo’ release is yours to keep – with no subsequent account refreshes.

That doesn’t pertain to any content you may have purchased with your Coins in the preview patches, however. This will subsequently be refreshed, and your Coin balance refunded.

Ranked gameplay will also apply to the beta and, once you have reached the next level, you will hold that value, at least, for the rest of the season, with no relegations. That’s great news as you set about testing any new strategies you have devised without the risk of losing.

It’s all exciting stuff then for League of Legends fanatics, however, there is some slightly bad news for those who cannot wait to get their hands on the game: the beta release will be for PC players only, meaning that mobile gamers will have to wait a little bit longer to get their hands on the title.

At the time of writing, Riot Games were still yet to announce a release date for the full version of Legends of Runeterra, which will presumably be based upon how much further development work is required subject to beta feedback.

Season 10 Patch Schedule Revealed

As confirmed in the latest LoL news release, Riot Games have also revealed the patch schedule for season 10 of League of Legends. This will take the form of the traditional fortnightly releases, meaning that some months will have two patches, and others three, right up until the end of 2020.

Within the early patches, there will be more than 120 new skins available, including a new-look Volibear skin for Juggernaut Champ users, plus Guardian of the Sands and Dragonslayer Champion skins for a range of characters including Janna, Rengar, Olaf, and Trundle, amongst others.

Necessary balance changes to Champions and Aphelios have also been made, with patch 10.1 introducing Sett, The Boss, to the gameworld.

Patch 10.3, scheduled for February, looks set to finally bring the Wukong rework to the table – something that many players have been anticipating with relish.

Such is the pull of LoL that a number of major companies are queueing up to get involved in one way or another, and fashion powerhouse Louis Vuitton is no exception. They have designed their own unique skin – True Damage Senna Prestige Edition – that has been slated for release with patch 10.3.

All of the above, in addition to VFX changes that will add a new dimension to proceedings, are just some of the reasons why League of Legends gamers are getting excited about the first quarter of 2020.
