The prequel to NieR:Automata, NieR Replicant was previously only available in Japan. Today though, the long-awaited remake finally releases on PlayStation 4, Xbox and PC.
Originally starting life as a spinoff to the Drakengard series of action-RPGs, the NieR series was a bit of a slow burner until the 2017 release of NieR:Automata. This released a year later on Xbox consoles as the Become As Gods Edition, and firmly planted itself as one of the best games of last generation. Fans in the West are now getting the opportunity to play the original game for the first time with the release of NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139…
NieR Replicant features a younger protagonist than that of the one featured in NieR Gestalt – the game that did release in the West – as he travels the world to find a cure for the Black Scrawl, a deadly illness that his sister Yonah has succumbed to. In NieR Gestalt, this protagonist was older and Yonah was his daughter in this version. Replicant will give fans a completely new perspective in this action-RPG.
NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139… is a remake but it also contains lots of new features over the original release. New dungeon “15 Nightmares” where new weapons and costumes can be unlocked, an extra episode called Mermaid the features a wrecked ship and a little girl, and the soundtrack and voiceover cast from NieR:Automata.
