Lord Winklebottom Investigates the PC, Xbox and Switch scenes

lord winklebottom investigates

It was only very recently that we heard of Lord Winklebottom Investigates; a strange new 1920’s styled point and click adventure. Now though it’s time for the Lords and Ladies of the Xbox, Switch and PC worlds to get fully immersed in what it brings.

We’re well versed in strange point-and-click adventures, no doubt with every single one of them that pops up being inspired by the madness that was delivered in Monkey Island way back when. This one has been created by Cave Monsters, and it’s pretty safe to say that Lord Winklebottom Investigates is one of the weirder options in the genre. But weird is good. In the case of Lord Winklebottom Investigates, very good.

Priced at £15.74 and available to purchase and download today on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and PC through Steam, Lord Winklebottom Investigates  whisks us back to the 1920s as we get our detective on and go about hunting down a killer in the lands of the Isle of Barghest.

The thing is, the titular Lord Winklebottom is far from your everyday average detective – he’s a giraffe. Weirder still is the fact that his most loyal friend is Dr Frumple, a hippo. Bringing these two characters front and centre, mixing in some Monty Python, Blackadder, Sherlock and Agatha Christie vibes as they go, Lord Winklebottom Investigates is most definitely one of those games that will be right at the top of the ‘intriguing’ list.

Throw in a host of NPCs who build out the animal roster, some glorious 2D hand-painted artwork and the need to seek out justice, and we think that Lord Winklebottom Investigates could well get near what is required of a game of such genre.

Our full review is live, and we’ll happily let you know how Lord Winklebottom Investigates  plays out on Xbox Series X|S. It’s pretty much spoiler free too, so give it a read, tempt yourself in and then head to the digital store of your choosing and grab the download you need.

That means paying the Xbox Store a visit should you primarily game on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, whilst the Nintendo eShop will host the Switch version and Steam for those on PC.

Let us know what you think of Lord Winklebottom Investigates once you’ve had a little tinker.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
