Lucy Dreaming is a quintessentially British point-and-clicker on Xbox

Is Lucy Dreaming?

If it was a genre, Great Britain may just be the point-and-click: well thought-out, usually pottering about its day, but for some reason, everybody seems to like its little quirks. And Lucy Dreaming on Xbox is a game that understands this, being set in the most British-sounding British town – Figgerton!

An Homage to the ‘90s

Releasing today on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, following previous forays onto PC, Switch and mobile platforms, Lucy Dreaming is a clear homage to point-and-click titles of decades gone, like Monkey Island and Day of the Tentacle.

From its pixelated art style, to inventory bar and actions across the bottom of the screen, you couldn’t get more ‘90s if you tried.

In Lucy Dreaming, Lucy is indeed dreaming: she is a sharp-witted young girl from Figgerton who is struggling with some extreme night terrors, and you will be entering her mind in an attempt to wrangle her dreams under control.

Puzzling Prowess

What follows will be a series of logic and lateral-thinking puzzles, each demanding you talk with some of the weird denizens of Lucy’s bizarre dreams, pick up certain objects, and use them on the environment.

Let’s hope the puzzles are more straight forward than some of the downright fiendish ones LucasArts used to throw our way!

Developer Dreams

It’s not only Lucy dreaming – it seems that developer Tom Hardwidge, of Tall Story Games, has had his come true. “I honestly can’t believe what we’ve achieved since we started out just a few years ago. I mean, my game… being enjoyed on actual consoles… belonging to real people. It’s not something I could ever have dreamed possible, there’s even a tiny chance my teenage self would have to admit he ended up doing something slightly cool after the age of forty”.

Lucy Dreaming is Available Now

Make sure to check out our full review of the game, before picking up a copy on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Switch or PC. The game is available for £14.99 on the Xbox Store.

I'm an avid gamer who will play pretty much anything... but stick an open world or adventure game in front of me and I'm more than happy.
