The valley is once again buzzing with new mysteries and magical moments to discover.
Gameloft is today launching the next major free update for Disney Dreamlight Valley. Titled “Return to Beast’s Castle,” this new update is live today, October 1st, for all players on Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and PC. And yes, the base game is in Game Pass if you need it.
This huge new content drop invites players back to the Beast’s iconic abode to solve a new mystery and welcome two of its most beloved residents – Lumiere and Cogsworth – to the valley.
Another Reason to Love a Flawed Gem
Disney Dreamlight Valley has a way of pulling you back in, a fact we know all too well. In our 4/5 review, we confessed our love-hate relationship with the game’s monetisation but admitted we were ultimately won over by its addictive loop: “I should be angry, but I’m only a few-thousand dreamlight away from affording a new area, and Rapunzel is soooo close to becoming a level 10 friend. There’s too much to be done. There’s no time to be angry.“
This new, substantial free update is another perfect example of why the game is so hard to put down, adding a wealth of new story content and seasonal fun that are crucial steps to success for any ruler.
Return to Beast’s Castle
To begin this new adventure, you’ll receive a letter from Beast asking you to return to his castle in search of a “charismatic pair.”
Once you arrive, you’ll find the usually stoic Lumiere and Cogsworth from Disney’s Beauty and the Beast in a right old tizzy. You’ll need to work with the pair to uncover the mysteries of some eerie goings-on that have been plaguing the castle.
Once you’ve solved the case, you can officially welcome the dynamic duo as the Valley’s newest residents. This will unlock them as new friends to level up, with their own stunning Friendship Rewards and new questlines that will see you helping them with troubles at Tiana’s Palace and other problems cropping up around the Valley.
A Spooky Season of Content
This update is also packed with a host of spooky, Halloween-themed content to get you in the spirit of the season.
A brand-new Star Path, Witchful Thinking, goes live. It’s filled with mystical vibes and witchy charms, including spellbinding furniture, seasonably frightful outfits, and bone-chilling decoration items to unlock.
The Premium Shop is getting a major update too. A new “Once Upon a Dance” Dream Bundle offers exclusive new Dream Styles for Belle and the Beast, which will unlock magical new interactions between the two. You can also pick up the new Witchy Kitty companion and the first-ever skin for the Dream Castle, the Halloween Castle.
On top of that, the community-favourite Trick or Treat event is returning from October 15th to the 31st, and a very special limited-time event, the Haunting Floating Festivals, kicks off on October 22nd.
Key Quality of Life Improvements
This update also brings a host of fantastic, fan-requested improvements. You’ll find the full patch notes over on the official blog, but let us pick out some of the key features…
- Photo Mode Upgrades – The Photo Mode is getting some great new features, including new poses for all your toolsets, a brand-new pose for your Royal Phone, and, most excitingly, a new Night Thorns Toggle, so you no longer have to exit Photo Mode to clear your perfect shot!
- Decorating and Shop Improvements – For the first time, you can now apply skins to your Dream Castle, starting with the new Halloween theme. The Premium Shop has also been updated to make it clearer what rewards you can earn from each bundle.
It’s time to be their guest all over again and dive into a brand-new mystery. With two fan-favourite new characters to befriend and a whole season of spooky fun to enjoy, this is another unmissable free update for all residents of the valley.
