Lumo 2
Lumo 2 – out now

The numbers don’t lie: Lumo 2, the sequel to the 2016 arcade-adventure hit is bigger, better, and more wonderfully British than ever before.

Lumo 2, the highly anticipated new title from developer Triple Eh? and publisher Numskull Games is now available on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC for £19.99.

This isn’t just a nostalgic trip; it’s a full-blown puzzle-platforming Metroidvania, packed with evolving gameplay and surprising genre twists that make it a love letter to the trailblazing days of early videogames.

Following a Modern Classic

The original Lumo was a game that captured our hearts with its challenging but rewarding gameplay. In our glowing 4/5 review from back in 2016, we called it a game where the developer “obviously knows how to make a good game and really knows his 80’s and 90’s video game.” We praised its scale, stating:

There’s a lot of game here as well for an indie title and you’ll be spending a good deal of time getting through it – and plenty more of your hard earned time collecting all the secrets.

Lumo 2 takes that brilliant foundation and builds upon it in every conceivable way. At least, we hope. We’ll find out in full review real soon.

A World of Shifting Dimensions

Lumo 2 is a vibrant puzzle-platforming Metroidvania where every room is a challenge, and every challenge brings something new. You will navigate over 100 meticulously designed rooms and shifting dimensions, each a puzzle box with dangers to dodge and secrets to uncover.

You’ll need to explore and experiment to crack the challenges within, unlocking new paths and abilities as you go.

On top of the core adventure, you can take on three different mini-games to master, and hunt for a host of classic collectibles, including 25 vintage cassettes and 20 hidden ducks. The gameplay never stops evolving, with portals that can flip the script and morph into wild genre twists to keep you on your toes.

Chwaraea yn Gymraeg!

In a fantastic and rare move that celebrates its British development roots, Lumo 2 is one of very few video games that is fully playable in Welsh. This “Chwaraea yn Gymraeg” feature offers a unique opportunity for Welsh-speaking players to immerse themselves in this charming adventure in their native language.

Your Isometric Itinerary

Here’s what you can expect from this new adventure:

  • The Sequel to the Critically Acclaimed Lumo.
  • A Puzzle-Platforming Metroidvania: Explore over 100 rooms of shifting dimensions and interconnected puzzles.
  • Three Unique Mini-Games to Master.
  • Classic Collectibles: Hunt for 25 vintage cassettes and 20 hidden ducks.
  • Playable in Welsh: A unique feature celebrating the game’s British heritage.

The adventure is calling once more. If you’re a fan of charming, challenging, and consistently surprising puzzle-platformers, Lumo 2 is ready for your exploration on the Xbox Store right now. It is also on stores of PlayStation, Nintendo Switch and PC.

Grab your hat, light your staff, and leap into a world of shifting landscapes!

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
