Capturing the World’s Beauty Through Your Lens

Most modern games now have a photo mode situated somewhere in their end product.

It’s this which allows the player to take photos of their favourite character or location, playing around with the aperture, the design, and the grading to create the perfect snap. From there, sharing them to the world is a cinch, done at the touch of a button on your controller.

So is there a need for a game that is focused on just taking pictures and nothing else? Well, Lushfoil Photography Sim hopes to answer that. And it’s doing so with an interesting and relaxing game that takes us to some of the best game locations you might ever wander around in.

Get ready to grab your camera

A Camera in Hand

Lushfoil Photography Sim doesn’t tell you off if you have never taken a picture before, but on the flipside, it rewards you massively if you have, expanding your knowledge in the process. As a game, there isn’t any rush or urgency to the game, dropping you into a beautiful location with a camera in hand.

You start the game in the first location, somewhere in Italy by a lakeside. You get a camera and then it’s up to you to take some shots. This is part walking simulator as well, as you traipse around the place, heading wherever you feel the need to go.

Mastering the Art

The main focus though is in the camera, as well as the features and things you can do with it. It’s here where Lushfoil Photography Sim excels, with some brilliant tutorials that walk you through the various buttons and settings. If you want to explore the camera and wish to get the best out of it, this is the game that will teach you, allowing the opportunity to experiment with it to your heart’s content. I loved this and I found the depth of knowledge and tutorials fascinating and insightful.

All the tools you need.

Hidden Gems and Varied Perspectives

There are also some exciting things to find in Lushfoil Photography Sim, hidden away on the maps, ready to be uncovered if you explore enough. Like a board of pictures, you can hunt down certain spots, attempting to replicate the shots in the world. This is a fun exercise to action, and by doing this you will unlock a secret and a new addition to how you take pictures.

On your journey, you might also find yourself on a boat or paddleboard, so that you can take photos from a different angle and perspective. At one point you get access to a drone, as well as an early digital camera. I’m not going to spoil anything more because there are lots of secrets and tons of surprises that pop up throughout Lushfoil Photography Sim.

A World Tour Through Your Lens

The biggest draw – apart from the camera – is in the locations themselves; afterall, if you haven’t got anything good to take a picture of then the game would have been a nonstarter.

Thankfully there are ten beautiful and diverse landscapes for you to unlock and enjoy, journeying the world, to Japan, Australia, and Iceland to name just a few. Each of these places is stunningly replicated and the developer has obviously made the most of Unreal Engine 5, because it is all very impressive.

Lighting, Seasons, and Serenity

Lighting, changes of season, and a host of little details here and there bring the world to life, no matter whether the focus is a boat house or an old church or some stones piled into cairns. And thankfully, Lushfoil Photography Sim also has a great fast-travel system that allows you to go anywhere that you’ve taken a shot and visited.

It’s a brilliant device and one that is extremely handy as you could be doing a lot of walking backward and forwards. That said, perhaps that isn’t such a bad thing, because this is a game that is very calming. Adding to the sense of serenity is the wonderful chill-out soundtrack that adds to your exploration.

Calming, Insightful, Gorgeous

A Calming and Insightful Journey Through the Art of Photography

I’ve spent far too many hours exploring many game worlds, like those of Death Stranding and Microsoft Flight Simulator. There is something so calming about taking in a beautiful landscape without anything chasing you or needing your mind to focus on questing. It’s that with which Lushfoil Photography Sim excels.

If you aren’t interested in photography, then you will struggle here with the lack of gameplay focus and intent, but if you do, this is a game that will help you build on your photography techniques. You can be sure that this is one of those games that I will keep going back to, refining my skills along the way.

I am an actor and a writer. I act quite a bit on stage, a little bit on tv and never on tuesdays. I have had some of my writing published and have written for TV and stage. I have been playing games since they begun and don't seem to be getting any better.
