If you’ve been hotly anticipating Bandai Namco’s The Dark Pictures Anthology then today is your lucky day, as the release date of the first instalment – Man of Medan – has now become known.
After teaming up with Supermassive Games, the release of Man of Medan as the first of The Dark Pictures Anthology has been something that many have been excited for. And now the time for gamers to experience the initial standalone horror experience is getting all the more closer as an Xbox One, PS4 and PC launch is set for 30th August 2019.
Bringing ghostly horror to the South Pacific, the story of Man of Medan starts off on a dive boat. With a rumoured WWII wreck to find, and plenty of on-deck partying to be had, a group of 4 young Americans and their skipper Fliss get ready for what should be the trip of a lifetime. But as ou may expect, it doesn’t go quite to plan. As the day unfolds, and a storm rolls in, they find themselves trapped on board a ghost ship. Subjected to unimaginable stress and terror, they must try to find a way to escape the ship and its sinister history.
And with this release date in hand, Man of Medan will become available to pre-order from today, with players that do so gaining exclusive Day 1 access to the Curator’s Cut – an alternative path seen from a new perspective.
See, it is after completing Man of Medan once where the Curator’s Cut (which will be made available for free to all players at a later date) provides:
- A new perspective with alternative characters in previously played scenes
- New decisions and choices within each scene which change the story in different ways
- New scenes and new secrets not featured in your original playthrough
“The Curator’s Cut is different to the traditional Director’s Cut as it gives the player new ways to directly influence the story and its outcomes. Players will see and change events and relationships from the perspective of characters that weren’t under control in their first playthrough.” said Pete Samuels: Executive Producer, The Dark Pictures Anthology, Supermassive Games.
“It adds a whole new layer to how the player understands and interacts with the story in a way that’s never been done before, and we’re excited for people to experience it.”
The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man Of Medan will launch on Xbox One, PS4 and PC on 30th August 2019, with both boxed and digital editions hitting console. Will you be taking in this latest horror title? Let us know in the comments. If you need to know more, the trailer below will happily sort you out.
