The Knightling – coming this August

Get ready to embark on a grand adventure as The Knightling gets an August release date confirmation!

Saber Interactive and indie developer Twirlbound have announced the release date for The Knightling, a charming fantasy action-adventure game coming to Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC. But when? Well, how does August 28th 2025, sound?

The Knightling puts you in the boots of a, well, Knightling – a brave knight-in-training – tasked with rescuing their mentor, the legendary Sir Lionstone, who has mysteriously disappeared.

Armed with Sir Lionstone’s magical shield, you’ll explore the enchanting lands of Clesseia, battling monsters and bandits, uncovering long-lost secrets, and ultimately proving that even the smallest hero can make a big difference.

A Shield is Your Best Friend (and Weapon)

The core gameplay of The Knightling revolves around Sir Lionstone’s magical shield. This isn’t just a defensive tool; it’s your primary weapon and your key to traversing the world. You’ll use the shield to block, bash, parry, and create openings in enemy defenses.

But it also allows you to slide and dash across the land, making exploration and platforming a dynamic and engaging experience.

Explore, Quest, and Unlock the Shield’s Power

The Knightling promises a classic action-adventure experience, with a focus on exploration, questing, combat, and platforming. You’ll journey across Clesseia’s diverse regions, mastering the shield’s unique abilities to overcome puzzles and challenges.

As you progress, you’ll upgrade your abilities and unlock the full potential of Sir Lionstone’s mighty shield.

The game is described as a lighthearted tale of bravery, chivalry, and magic, suggesting a charming and family-friendly experience, though with plenty of action for seasoned adventurers.

From the Creators of Pine

Developer Twirlbound, based in the Netherlands, previously released the award-winning open-world adventure game Pine. The Knightling seems to be drawing on that experience, offering another gorgeous world to explore, but with a more focused, action-adventure approach.

They’re partnering with publisher Saber Interactive, known for titles like the brilliant SnowRunner and World War Z.
