The middle of the month is a time for change – the time when the Xbox Games With Gold scheme changes from one free game to another. And now, a little ahead of schedule, Marlow Briggs and the Mask of the Death has been stripped of its price tag.

Available for free to all Xbox Live Gold subscribers as the latest game to be hit with the Games With Gold free stick, Marlow Briggs should really still be coming in with a price tag attached. But its quite obvious that the bosses at Xbox HQ are getting into the Christmas spirit a little early and have removed the price a bit early. If you are one of those Gold subscribers who are looking for a new game to get your teeth into over the Xmas period, then you should be heading to the Microsoft Store and nabbing it right now.

Of course, you could always wait in order to get your free download in, and you’ve got until the new year rings in to at least press the download button over at the Microsoft Store, but the clever ones out there will be getting in on the action right now.

But what is Marlow Briggs and the Mask of the Death? Well, a native Xbox 360 title that is also playable on Xbox One thanks to the Backward Compatibility scheme, it’s a hack n slasher that deals in combat, explosions and plenty of action – quite possibly enough to keep you going until 2018.

After that though? Well, you’ll probably have forgotten all about it as we crack on with another 12 months. But it’s free remember ,and that’s always a good thing!

Game Description:

A new breed of WARRIOR returns, committed to destroying the enemies of FREEDOM! No-nonsense hero Marlow never shied away from danger or trouble. But now he faces his ULTIMATE challenge. Blasting into Central America, he has an industrial evil to defeat whilst bound to an ancient Mayan Death Mask who’s had no-one to talk to for 2000 years. With cliffhanger over the top action and cinematic gameplay, Marlow Briggs takes inspiration from the best of blockbuster films, comic book heroes, and action games with its focus on relentless high-octane combat, exotic and danger filled environments and epic set pieces.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
