Marvel Rivals is coming to Xbox and PlayStation

Been casting a little eye the way of PC players and the promise of Marvel Rivals? Well, it’s also now coming to Xbox Series X|S and PS5. And better yet? There’s a closed beta on the way.

Announced at the most recent PlayStation State of Play, NetEase and Marvel Games have unveiled new details about Marvel Rivals. The most interesting is that the Super hero team-based PvP shooter is now set to land on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, as well as PC.

Super Heroes and Super Villains

When it does arrive, expect Marvel Rivals to attempt something pretty special. It’ll allow you the chance to assemble an ever-evolving all-star squad of Super Heroes and Super Villains battling with unique super powers across a dynamic lineup of destructible maps from across the Marvel Multiverse.

Fan favorites like Venom and Adam Warlock will be joining the all-star roster of 19 playable heroes battling in iconic Marvel locations from across the Multiverse, including the newly revealed TOKYO 2099: SPIDER-ISLANDS map.

You’ll get to unleash Venom to tap into the power of the symbiote and devour your enemies or swoop in as Adam Warlock and unleash the power of quantum magic, establishing a soul bond with your teammates to charge ahead or resurrect your entire team.

The game will be coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S at launch in addition to PC. The first closed beta test for Marvel Rivals is scheduled for late July for all platforms including PC, PlayStation, and Xbox; a large-scale test that will invite players in North America, Europe along with other regions with more details coming closer to the test. In addition, PlayStation beta testers will also get exclusive access to the “Scarlet Spider” cosmetic outfit when the game is officially launched.

Choose your heroes

In Marvel Rivals, players can look forward to choosing heroes split into three distinct roles based on their unique power inclinations: Vanguard, Duelist, and Strategist. They’ll be free to pick their preferred role and hero, teaming up with allies to create a versatile and dynamic lineup for battle.

But that’s not all, as they’ll be able to reach a whole new level of team play collaboration with Team-Up Abilities, unleashing joint superpowers with their allies, tearing down the battlefield to win in exciting fights! Marvel Rivals is in development by a NetEase team composed of global talent that share a profound love for the Marvel universe and characters who previously worked on hit shooter franchises played by millions of players worldwide.

“With the confirmation of console platforms, NetEase Games is thrilled at the prospects to greatly expand the audience for Marvel Rivals,” said Ethan Wang, Senior Vice President, NetEase, Inc. “As we move closer to our closed beta phase, we look forward to direct community feedback and engaging with our players to create the best possible Super Hero experience.”

What is Marvel Rivals?

Marvel Rivals features a storyline crafted by the NetEase writing team in collaboration with Marvel Games, where the merciless clash between the tyrannical dictator Doctor Doom and his future counterpart from the year 2099 has forced countless universes to collide in the Timestream Entanglement, creating new worlds and conflicts still to be discovered. Now, Super Heroes and Super Villains from across the Multiverse must fight together and against one another as disparate groups seek to defeat both Dooms before one achieves domination of these realities. Familiar faces become newfound foes while former enemies become the greatest of allies in Marvel Rivals!

Will you be keeping an eye on Marvel Rivals, especially now it has been confirmed for Xbox and PlayStation? Will the closed beta be your bag? Get into the comments and let us know.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
