Jubilee Lights Up The Battlefield
Season 9 welcomes Jubilee to the ever-growing Marvel Rivals roster, joining the game as a Strategist.
Her trademark fireworks aren’t just for show either. Jubilee specialises in controlling vibrant energy plasmoids that both heal teammates and damage enemies, while her Ultimate Ability blankets the battlefield in an explosive fireworks display capable of turning the tide of battle.
She’s the latest addition to a roster that continues to grow at an impressive pace, with The Hood already confirmed to arrive as part of the Season 9.5 update in August.
A Huge Shake-Up For Team Combat
While new heroes always grab the headlines, arguably the biggest change in Season 9 is one players will feel every single match.
NetEase has rebuilt the Team-Up system from the ground up. Every hero now features two independent Team-Up Ability loadouts, with each loadout including both a Base Effect and an Enhanced Effect, dramatically increasing the number of tactical combinations available during matches.
Classic combinations also return, including fan-favourite Team-Ups like Metallic Chaos, giving long-time players familiar strategies alongside the newly expanded system.
Further, Black Widow has also undergone a complete gameplay rework, refreshing her entire combat loop and offering players a very different experience from previous seasons.
New Story, New Map And A Fresh Game Mode
The narrative this time centres around the mysterious Collapsed Timeline.
As Apocalypse attempts to absorb the faith of the gods and ascend to godhood, he’s unexpectedly murdered, triggering a deadly mystery that draws Marvel’s heroes into an unfolding investigation across ancient Thebes.
From there, the new Convoy map – Thebes joins the game following the July 23rd update, transporting players into another visually striking battlefield inspired by Marvel’s Multiverse.
Then, beginning July 30th, players can jump into an entirely new limited-time mode, Path to Doomsday – Avengers: Age of Ultron. Taking the fight directly into Avengers Tower and Ultron’s Data Space, heroes will battle waves of Ultron’s mechanical army while new Times Square events also begin rolling out.
Marvel Rivals Keeps Building Momentum
The competitive scene also continues to expand. The Marvel Rivals Ignite Series Mid-Season Finals head to Los Angeles between July 29th and August 1st, where the top ten teams from around the world will compete for the first World Championship title of the competitive year.
It’s another sign of just how quickly Marvel Rivals has established itself as one of the biggest multiplayer games on the market.
We’ve been impressed with the game since launch, awarding Marvel Rivals a 4.5/5 review score, praising its polished hero gameplay, varied roster and satisfying team-based action. Since then, NetEase has continued to build on that strong foundation with a steady stream of seasonal content, new heroes and regular gameplay refinements.
