Prepare to die, over and over again – Dead Reset is coming.
Wales Interactive, in collaboration with the horror specialists at Dark Rift Horror, has announced Dead Reset, a new interactive sci-fi horror FMV set to launch in September 2025.
The blood-soaked adventure will be coming to a huge range of platforms, including Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch, PC, and even iOS and Android.
This new title traps players in a terrifying death-loop where each gruesome demise is not the end, but a crucial step towards uncovering the truth.
Death is Not The End
In Dead Reset, you play as Cole Mason, a surgeon who is kidnapped and brought to a mysterious underwater facility. Your captors force you to operate on a patient to extract an evolving, parasitic horror. This is where the core mechanic comes into play: you are trapped in a time loop, and death is inevitable.
However, each death offers a terrifying new perspective on the situation. Players must master this death-loop, learning from each failure to uncover the path to escape. It’s a chilling premise that turns the traditional “game over” screen into a fundamental part of the gameplay.
A Blood-Soaked Interactive Movie
From the team that has brought a multitude of interactive thrillers to our screens, Dead Reset aims to immerse players in a relentless sci-fi horror movie. The experience is built around cinematic scares, gruesome practical effects, and high-stakes, choice-driven gameplay that puts you at the heart of the terror.
The game also includes a “Streamer Mode,” a thoughtful feature for those playing to an audience. When enabled, it removes the time constraints on choices, allowing viewers to guide Cole’s fate and, as the developers cheekily put it, “delight in his gruesome deaths.”
Your Choices, Your Demise
Every decision you make in Dead Reset matters. You will steer Cole on a path of either Redemption or Damnation, with your morality being tested at every turn. These choices will ultimately lead to one of four wildly different endings.
Beyond the main plot, your relationships with other characters are crucial to your survival. An in-game tracker allows you to check your relationship status with other characters (if they are still alive), as each bond you forge or fracture will directly influence your road to escape.
A Word from the Director
The game’s director, Stewart Sparke of Dark Rift Horror, shared his vision for the project’s relentless terror.
“Dead Reset was designed to get under the skin of the player and deliver relentless scares driven by gruesome practical effects and a time-bending descent into terror. I can’t wait for people to dive in and play our blood-drenched, interactive love letter to the horror genre!“
Your own blood-soaked horror story awaits its director this September. Dead Reset is handing players the camera, blending its gruesome death-loop mechanic with the high-stakes choices of an interactive movie. Prepare to craft your own path to survival – or damnation – when it launches on Xbox and a multitude of other platforms.
