Over the last couple of years the team at Hero Concept have been putting out fun, arcade-styled titles to the masses, with both Doughlings: Arcade and then Doughlings: Invasion ticking a good few boxes. Now though that same team are looking to take an altogether different route, one that is filled by an urban fantasy themed beat ’em up in Mayhem Brawler for Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC.
Mayhem Brawler is the game in question and today Hero Concept have confirmed it’ll be coming to Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC in 2021. Taking us back to the arcades of the 1990s – and obviously attempting to follow on from the recent success of Streets of Rage 4 – Mayhem Brawler is a beat ’em up with a difference. You see, in here, your choices actually matter.
Presented via comic book styled art and pushed along via a kick-ass soundtrack, Mayhem Brawler offers a unique experience that is able to be tackled either alone, or via cooperative opportunities with friends, all while defining the next step in the story with your choices.
Mayhem Brawler will see you and your squad answering a routine call on patrol. It is here where Dolphin, Star, and Trouble – the most popular officers of the super-powered law enforcement agency, Stronghold – find themselves, as a sequence of events unfolds that will alter the fate of the entire city.
From there on out, all hell looks to break loose as you come up against street gangs and given the chance to utilise a full arsenal of combos and special abilities. The main aim is for you and your co-op teammates to make life miserable for those super-powered criminals, fend yourself from the fury of werewolves, resist the hexes of street wizards and confront the megacorp led by vampire houses that enforce their goons to do their dirty deeds.
With comic book inspired hand-drawn backgrounds and frame-by-frame animations, Mayhem Brawler should be able to deliver a jolt of adrenaline to your controller. With the choices you make, you will shape the flow of the story and finally reach one of the three different endings in Mayhem Brawler universe, where each corner has a story to tell.
