MECHBORN revealed – a mech anime-inspired roguelike deckbuilder with a unique card system

Curve Games and Turtle Juice have officially lifted the lid on MECHBORN, a striking new roguelike deckbuilder that fuses classic ’90s mech anime energy with Greek mythology-inspired themes.

Set against a backdrop of Kaiju invasions and collapsing colonies, MECHBORN introduces a bold mechanical twist that rethinks how deckbuilding strategy works from the ground up.

The game is currently in development for Steam, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 1 and 2, with a Pre-Alpha demo available now on Itch.io ahead of a planned late 2026 release.

A World On The Brink, Powered By Pilots And Steel

In MECHBORN, Earth’s colonies are under constant threat from towering Kaiju, and conventional defence is no longer enough. Enter TITANCORE, the organisation responsible for forging elite pilots through a dangerous mech-synchronisation process.

These pilots, known as the MECHBORN, are humanity’s last line of defence. Each run sees players piloting powerful machines across three shifting continents, battling overwhelming odds while adapting to ever-changing combat scenarios.

A Deckbuilder That Throws The Rulebook Out

Where MECHBORN truly separates itself is in how it approaches deckbuilding.

Instead of drawing from a static hand of cards, MECHBORN uses a Conveyor Belt system. Players begin with seven cards in rotation, and every card played is instantly replaced by another. This creates constant motion, forcing rapid adaptation and rewarding players who can plan several moves ahead.

Positioning matters just as much as card choice, and pilot abilities can be chained together to create devastating mech-pilot synergies that dramatically alter the flow of battle.

Pilots, Mechs, And Endless Build Possibilities

Players can unlock and combine mech parts to shape their deck, either crafting bespoke builds designed for explosive combos or assembling full matching sets to gain powerful bonuses. On top of that, MECHBORN features 12 unique pilots, each with their own abilities, personality, and backstory.

Matching the right pilot with the right mech isn’t just flavour – it’s often the difference between victory and becoming Kaiju scrap.

However, unlike many roguelikes, MECHBORN doesn’t funnel players down rigid routes. Across its three continents, players are free to move and fight in any direction. Of course, freedom comes at a cost. Fuel is a finite resource, and poor planning can leave pilots stranded deep in hostile territory with no escape.

Risk management, route planning, and knowing when to push forward or retreat all play a critical role in survival.

MECHBORN Key Features At A Glance

  • Unique Conveyor Belt card system that replaces traditional hands
  • 12 pilots with distinct skills, stories, and mech synergies
  • Three adaptive continents with free-form exploration

  • Coming to Steam, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 1 & 2

A Promising Start For A Bold New Deckbuilder

With its inventive mechanics, striking theme, and refusal to play it safe, MECHBORN already feels like more than just another deckbuilder chasing trends. The Conveyor Belt system alone has the potential to reshape moment-to-moment strategy, while the blend of anime mechs and mythological flavour gives the game a distinct identity.

Players curious to see how it all comes together can jump in early via the Pre-Alpha demo on Itch.io, while the full release is currently targeting late 2026 across PC and consoles.
