Mexican Ninja Slashes Onto Xbox, PlayStation And PC In 2026

2026's Best Games

The official keyart for Mexican Ninja as it is announced for Xbox and PlayStation
Mexican Ninja is coming to Xbox and PlayStation

Announced during IGN Fan Fest, Mexican Ninja is officially making the leap to consoles alongside its PC release in 2026 – bringing its chaotic, combo-heavy 2.5D roguelike beat ’em up action to Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam.

Developed by Madbricks in partnership with REDRUM, this swagger-fuelled brawler drops players into Nuevo Tokyo – a neon-soaked collision of Mexican grit and Japanese cyberpunk – where rebellion is brewing and fists are flying.

And judging by the reveal, with its Hades vs Streets of Rage vibes, subtlety is not on the menu.

Carve Through Nuevo Tokyo

Mexican Ninja wastes no time establishing its identity. This is a fast, chaotic beat ’em up built around rhythm, precision and attitude. Every dodge, parry and combo is designed to flow into the next, rewarding players who find their groove.

Combat unfolds in 2.5D, blending arcade-style side-scrolling energy with modern responsiveness. Timing matters. Positioning matters. But style? That matters most.

The streets of Nuevo Tokyo are controlled by the Narkuzas with five corrupt heads presiding over a city that feels like a fever dream mash-up of cultures, colours and chaos. Your mission is simple: cut through the corruption and lead the uprising.

Roguelike Runs With Real Bite

This isn’t a linear punchathon. Mexican Ninja leans heavily into roguelike structure, meaning every run evolves differently.

Randomised layouts and build paths keep encounters unpredictable, while meta-progression systems ensure your character grows stronger between attempts. You’ll unlock new abilities, experiment with layered builds and refine your approach as you push deeper into enemy territory.

It’s not just about surviving, it’s about mastering the flow.

Mexican Jutsus And The Way Of The Donkey

If standard combos aren’t enough, Mexican Ninja introduces its own flavour of supernatural flair.

Mexican Jutsus and spirit powers expand your arsenal with wild crowd-control tools and high-impact abilities, letting you dominate rooms in creative ways. Layered on top of that is the “Way of the Donkey” skill tree. This is a tongue-in-cheek but meaningful progression system focused on amplifying your personal playstyle.

Want to become a parry god? A combo machine? A spirit-powered wrecking ball? The path is yours to shape.

Console And PC Launch In 2026

Originally planned for PC, the IGN Fan Fest announcement confirmed that Mexican Ninja will launch simultaneously across Xbox and PlayStation platforms in 2026.

That expansion broadens the rebellion beyond Steam, giving console players the chance to experience its tight combat and irreverent tone with controller in hand.

For those eager to jump in early, a free playable demo is already available on Steam, offering a first taste of the chaos.

If it delivers on the initial promise, Nuevo Tokyo might just become one of 2026’s most memorable battlegrounds. One thing’s certain – when this uprising begins, it won’t be quiet.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
