Milano’s Odd Job Collection – out now!

The long-lost PlayStation classic, Milano’s Odd Job Collection, is finally available worldwide on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and handheld devices, as well as PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch.

Originally only released in Japan, this 1999 pixel-art adventure lets players step into the shoes of 11-year-old Milano, who must take on a summer of quirky part-time jobs while left in the care of her absent uncle.

With full English text, voiceovers, and modern quality-of-life improvements, this charming title is ready for a whole new audience.

Fans who followed our coverage back in July will remember our news piece “Lost PlayStation Classic Milano’s Odd Job Collection Is Finally Coming to Xbox”, which first teased the Western release.

Today, that long-awaited launch is official, bringing Milano’s pixel-perfect summer adventures to modern consoles and PC for the first time outside Japan.

Step Into Milano’s World

School may be out, but Milano’s summer is packed with work, fun, and exploration. Her mom needs to go to the hospital, and her uncle is away, leaving Milano to fend for herself.

Players can guide Milano through 40 days of activities – delivering pizzas, tending to patients, milking flying cows, and more – while upgrading her uncle’s house and discovering hidden joys in her temporary home.

The game strikes a perfect balance between nostalgic gameplay and modern convenience, offering improved load times, save states, and a rewind feature, ensuring that both newcomers and returning fans enjoy a smooth experience.

Key Features

  • Milano Meets the World: Full English text and voiceovers bring the adventure to a global audience, while the original Japanese audio remains available with new subtitles.
  • Make Your Home Away From Home: Decorate and personalise Milano’s uncle’s house, relax with her cat, and enjoy evening activities to restore energy and unlock new opportunities.
  • It’s Not Work If You Love It: Milano takes on eight unique mini-games, from nursing patients to orchard work. Evening activities boost skill, mood, and energy, unlocking higher-level jobs and bigger rewards.
  • Nostalgic Gameplay, Modern Comforts: Classic 32-bit era gameplay is intact, now enhanced for modern platforms with save states, rewind options, and smooth load times.

Why This Release Matters

For fans of retro Japanese games, Milano’s Odd Job Collection offers a rare chance to experience a slice of PlayStation history for the first time outside Japan. It’s both a trip down memory lane and a welcoming introduction for new players, making it one of the more delightful releases of the year.

Whether you’re aiming for high scores in Milano’s mini-games or simply soaking in the whimsical pixel-art charm, there’s something for everyone.

Quick Summary

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
