MindsEye Update 7 – A Turning Point For Build A Rocket Boy’s Sci-Fi Thriller?

Best of 2025

A new keyart for MindsEye as Update 7 drops, reshaping the world
MindsEye Update 7 launches across Xbox, PlayStation, and PC, marking a major reset for Build A Rocket Boy’s cinematic sci-fi action adventure set in the city of Redrock.

MindsEye is stepping into a decisive new phase in 2026. Following months of post-launch work and community feedback, Build A Rocket Boy has rolled out Update 7, the most substantial overhaul yet for its cinematic sci-fi action-adventure.

Available now across Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC, this update marks a turning point for a game that has always aimed high, and is now far closer to delivering on that ambition after a disastrous launch.

Originally launched as a bit of a mess in June 2025, MindsEye has been steadily reshaped behind the scenes. Update 7 doesn’t just polish rough edges though. It resets expectations, refines the experience, and lays the groundwork for what comes next. At least that’s what the devs – and us – hope for.

A Living Sci-Fi World, Built To Keep Evolving

At its core, MindsEye is designed as an ever-expanding gameplay experience, blending a cinematic story campaign with a growing slate of new missions, races, challenges, and playable content delivered over time.

Players step into the role of Jacob Diaz, a former soldier burdened by a mysterious neural implant and fractured memories. Set in the near-future desert city of Redrock, MindsEye unfolds as a story-driven action-adventure thriller, exploring themes of rogue AI, corporate overreach, and unchecked military power. Each mission pushes Jacob closer to uncovering a conspiracy tied to a power source that was never meant to exist.

Update 7 strengthens that foundation, making the campaign flow more smoothly and ensuring the story is easier to follow from start to finish.

What Update 7 Brings To MindsEye

Build A Rocket Boy describes Update 7 as the point where MindsEye fully aligns with the studio’s original quality vision. The update introduces a wide range of improvements across gameplay, performance, and structure.

Key improvements include:

  • Smoother campaign pacing and clearer objectives
  • Enhanced enemy AI behaviour
  • General performance and stability improvements
  • Improved mission readability and player guidance

For returning players, this makes MindsEye a far more cohesive experience. For newcomers, it’s the ideal moment to finally step into Redrock for the first time.

Exclusive Content For Deluxe Edition Players

Update 7 also delivers something new for Deluxe Edition owners – the Silva E-Series, a full street-circuit race set in the heart of Redrock.

This event transforms the city centre into a major motorsport showcase, complete with grandstands, barriers, and cheering NPC crowds. Designed as a technical, skill-focused challenge, the Silva E-Series encourages players to chase perfect runs and climb the global leaderboards.

It’s a welcome addition that reinforces MindsEye’s ambition to offer more than just traditional story missions.

Developer Commitment And What Comes Next

Mark Gerhard, CEO and CTO of Build A Rocket Boy, describes Update 7 as a defining moment for both the game and the studio:

“Update 7 is a big step forward for MindsEye, and our studio. I want to thank everyone who’s been playing and sharing feedback, and our dedicated team who have worked incredibly hard to continue to delight our community. We’ve listened, we’ve moved quickly, and we’re continuing to refine performance, make continuous improvements , and deliver substantial combat and gameplay enhancements. New content is in development, and we’re committed to steady, meaningful progress. Our core focus remains on delivering the MindsEye experience we always envisioned and the one our players deserve.”

Looking ahead, Build A Rocket Boy has confirmed that new content is already in development, including:

  • A full expansion introducing end-game content
  • Enhanced world exploration
  • A multiplayer mode arriving via MindsEye’s ARCADIA

More details on that future roadmap are expected in the coming months.

A Second Chance Worth Taking?

When MindsEye first launched, massive technical issues overshadowed its ideas and ambition – we all know about the problems it had. With Update 7 now live, the game finally feels ready to be judged on what it set out to achieve – a bold, cinematic sci-fi thriller built to grow over time.

We covered the original launch back in 2025, but with MindsEye now entering a far stronger state, this update feels like the perfect moment to take a fresh look. A full review is coming soon.

Our fingers are firmly crossed.
