There’s no shortage of cozy games these days, but Mirth Island looks like it could carve out its own little corner thanks to a blend of rhythm gameplay, heartfelt storytelling and a world absolutely packed with charm.
Announced by SOEDESCO and Clay Game Studio, Mirth Island is heading to Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and PC later this year, inviting players onto a vibrant island where music, friendship and community sit at the heart of everything.
Following the positive reception in 2024 to Mirth Melody on Steam, this new adventure expands the same musical universe while introducing a fresh cast, a new setting and a story focused on rebuilding both a theatre and a life that has fallen apart.

A Return Home With Plenty To Repair
Mirth Island centres around Dodo, a young duck whose acting career has collapsed, forcing him to return home to the island he left behind. Things don’t exactly improve upon arrival either. The island’s once-beloved theatre has fallen into disrepair, leaving Dodo and his childhood friends Vivi and Rita determined to bring it back to life.
That rebuilding process forms the core of the game, and Mirth Island looks to focus on personal growth, friendship and the idea that helping others can often help heal yourself too. That’s obviously a premise that fits naturally within the cozy genre, but the musical vibes gives it a bit more personality than some of the farming and fishing heavy games that currently crowd the space.
Rhythm Challenges Meet Cozy Exploration
Gameplay in Mirth Island mixes exploration, light questing and rhythm-based mini-games together across a colourful island setting filled with quirky locals. Players will spend time solving everyday problems for villagers, taking part in musical challenges and slowly helping restore energy back into the community.
The world itself comes with a slightly surreal visual style. Bright colours, expressive character designs and upbeat music all help give the island a cheerful atmosphere, even if the story underneath carries more emotional weight than you might initially expect. In that respect, we’re thinking Outbound vibes here.
Most importantly though, the rhythm sections are designed for both casual players and those looking for tougher challenges, which should help make the game approachable regardless of musical skill level.
One To Watch Later This Year
SOEDESCO hasn’t confirmed a final release date just yet, but Mirth Island is currently scheduled to launch later this year across Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam.
For players looking for a more relaxed adventure with music, warmth and a genuinely wholesome tone, this could end up being one worth keeping firmly on the radar. We’ll keep you updated but you may wish to check out the Steam and Xbox Store pages.
For now, you’ll have to make do with the announcement trailer…
