Remember Missile Command? If you do there’s a chance you’ll be seriously interested in the latest classic title to be revamped and recharged by Atari – that game is Missile Command: Recharged.

Available to purchase and download right now on all major consoles and PC – Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch and Atari VCS – Missile Command: Recharged takes the original classic game from the 1980s and slaps on a ton of modern day features.

It follows on from the host of Atari titles to have been hit by the Revamped stick, the likes of Centipede, Asteroids, Breakout and Black Widow, to ensure that fans of the original game, or those looking for a new hit today, are well catered for.

It’s priced at just £7.99, and we think that’s a damn good asking price for such a classic title, and puts you in charge of a bunch of missile silos, looking to save the world from utter destruction. Moving your crosshairs into view and firing off a few missiles is the name of the game, building score combos as you go. It works really well too – as our full review of Missile Command: Recharged on Xbox Series X|S discusses.

There are global leaderboards to enjoy and the standard base game to play through. But as has been the case with all Atari Recharged titles, there is more – namely a ton of Mission Challenges for you to test your skills with.

Unlocks and upgrades are hidden behind the scores you earn, which in turn will let you increase those with greater frequency.

In all, the following key features are in place…

  • Power Yourself Up to Shoot ‘Em Down: Don’t just target missiles — take aim at all-new power-ups that will give you special tools, including powerful missiles, shields, and even a screen-clearing special blast
  • Unlockable Upgrades: In Arcade Mode, use accumulated points you earn to upgrade defensive attributes that will keep you in the game longer — if you use them wisely!
  • Local Co-op with a Co-Pilot: Tag in a friend to play any mode in local co-op and coordinate to fend off the enemy onslaught
  • King of the Leaderboard: Compete in global leaderboards and aim to claim bragging rights as the top missile commander

You’ll find Missile Command: Recharged on the Xbox Store, playable on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. It’s also on PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, PC and Atari VCS.

Game Description:

It may look easy, but the difficulty curve of Missile Command sneaks up on you. Before too long you are intensely focused on taking out incoming missiles and enemy planes, and taking desperate measures to save your remaining cities. Missile Command: Recharged takes the classic arcade game and adds several layers of oomph and pizzaz. This revamped take on the classic introduces more power-ups, new enemies, and a suite of challenges that limit the number of counter-defenses at your disposal – not to mention co-op across all game modes! An amazing new soundtrack from the incomparable Megan McDuffee perfectly complements the gameplay and adds depth and variety. Of course, you could also test your skills against players across the globe in the 32 challenge levels or the classic endless Arcade mode.
