Mister Scary – Where Are You? puts you in control of a rather unusual purple monster who has lost his family, sending him off into a land full of creepy creatures, spooky surprises and some decidedly strange snacks.

Where Has The Family Gone?
The story behind Mister Scary – Where Are You? is surprisingly sweet considering the Halloween setting. Mister Scary has lost his family and needs to head into a strange, creepy world to find them.
The character himself was inspired by a toddler’s imaginary friend, which perhaps explains why Mister Scary is a little more colourful and playful than your average Halloween monster. That idea has now been turned into a six-stage adventure, with each stage broken down into its own smaller areas.
And of course, there are plenty of things hoping to get in the way.
Six Stages And Six Bosses
Each of the six stages has its own scary boss to deal with, while a world map helps keep track of Mister Scary’s journey. There are also Scary Tokens scattered around the adventure, with 15 of them earning an extra life.
That gives you something else to keep an eye out for while making your way through the creepy bits and searching for the missing family members.
And neatly, Mister Scary has a few tricks available when the local nasties start causing problems. The most simple solution is to stomp on them, but things get more interesting when food enters the equation.
A spicy snack can be used to torch enemies, while an icy snack freezes them instead. There is also one particularly bizarre defensive move: ducking causes Mister Scary to take a nap, making him immune to damage while he catches a few Zs.
A Spooky Adventure With A Rather Lovely Idea Behind It
Mister Scary – Where Are You? doesn’t appear to be interested in making Halloween miserable. Instead, it takes the idea of an imaginary friend and turns it into a colourful little adventure about finding the people who matter to you.
So, if you’re looking for something with a Halloween flavour but would rather spend your evening helping a purple monster find his family than hiding behind the sofa, Mister Scary – Where Are You? might be worth a look at £5.99 from the Xbox Store, playable on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
