What can be better than a Metroidvania experience? A Souls-like one perhaps? Something that deals with a ton of sci-fi? Well, PolarityFlow have mixed all these ideas together in order to release Cryogear to Xbox One and PC.

Available to purchase and download now on Xbox One and PC, Cryogear is the latest title to come from the creative minds of PolarityFlow, working hand crafted Metroidvania elements with pixel art visuals, platforming gameplay and a whole smattering of Souls-like mechanics.

Set in an open sci-fi world, Cryogear sees you thrust into a world which is driven by exploration and curiosity, allowing the most creative of players to immerse themselves in an experience which will see them uncovering new items, abilities, and ever increasing possibilities.

Priced at £14.99, in Cryogear you are found taking charge of a clone – G.3.4.R – left to head out on your own and requested to explore your new surroundings. By doing so you’ll discover secrets and a world full of mystery, all centred around the ever present Emperor AI. The question is, will you be able to survive and thrive in this strange new world, or will you falter and fail just like the numerous clones that came before you?

Mixing together a versatile platforming core with exploration, shoot ’em up and RPG elements, Cryogear certainly looks ripe to reveal an entertaining new game experience. You’ll be treated to a dangerous open world that has more than 50 different regions to discover, multiple obstacles, huge boss fights, different enemy types and more. Drop in some puzzles, hidden areas, minigames and loot, and it looks good for providing a unique rewarding exploration experience.

Cryogear also features a full-scale RPG inventory, combined with equipment, skill and crafting systems, and you’ll be able to freely move between active abilities and weapons as things unfold; expect to bear witness to dynamic, skill-based strategies arriving for every situation.

If you’re interested in what Cryogear brings then head on over to the Xbox Store and grab a download right now for £14.99. Keep an eye out for our full review too – we’ll be sure to drop some thoughts surrounding Cryogear your way real soon.

With PolarityFlow previously behind the rather decent Steel Rain and Cyber Complex, hopes are high for Cryogear indeed.
