For years, Xbox players have wondered when Capcom would bring its beloved RPG spin-offs to the platform. Today, that wait ends and Monster Hunter Stories and Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin have officially landed on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, marking the series’ debut on the ecosystem in style.
After we questioned their absence all the way back in 2024, the arrival of both titles at once feels like a long-overdue celebration for fans of the franchise.
With multiple editions, full content bundles and upgraded features, this is the most complete way to experience the Stories saga on Xbox.
Two Long-Awaited Adventures Unleashed
Capcom hasn’t taken half-measures with the jump to Xbox. Both games arrive fully featured, fully updated, and ready for a new audience.
- Monster Hunter Stories – £24.99 – The original RPG returns with enhanced presentation and full Japanese and English voice acting. Rather than hunting beasts, you form lifelong bonds with them as a Monster Rider, exploring a narrative built on friendship, courage and the looming threat of the Black Blight. A new Museum Mode includes concept art, music, and behind-the-scenes materials that dive deeper into the world, making this the definitive version of the classic.
- Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin – from £32.99 – The sequel expands everything – world, story, scale and stakes. Playing as the grandchild of the legendary Red, you’ll travel with Ena to protect a mysterious Rathalos egg capable of unleashing an ancient, devastating power. It’s bigger, richer, more cinematic and perfect for newcomers and returning fans alike.
The series also brings its full suite of tactical turn-based combat, Monstie collection, online battles, and all post-launch updates.
A Feast of Editions and Bundles
Capcom has ensured there’s a version for every type of Rider.
Monster Hunter Stories 2 comes in that Standard Edition, but there’s also the Deluxe Edition for £39.99, including:
- Ena’s Outfit: Kuan Coat
- Razewing Armor (Layered): Alpha & Beta
- Spiky Nergal hairstyle
- Navirou’s Nergigante & Pukei-Pukei costumes
- Adventure Buddies 2 & 3 sticker sets
There is also Monster Hunter Stories Collection (£49.99) and that includes both full games (MHS + MHS2 Standard). Alternatively, Monster Hunter Stories Deluxe Collection will set you back £54.99 and combines both the original game with the Deluxe Edition of the sequel.
For players jumping in for the first time, these bundles offer excellent value and an easy way to experience the full saga from the beginning.
While the main Monster Hunter series is known for its high-intensity real-time combat, Stories focuses on adventure, narrative and strategy. Think tactical battles, egg hunting, monster bonding and building a personalised team of Monsties. We’ll let you know how it all goes in review for each of the two games.
Is Monster Hunter Stories on Game Pass?
At launch, you won’t be finding Monster Hunter Stories or Monster Hunter Stories 2 on Game Pass. There’s obviously the chance those games will appear at some point, what with the ever evolving nature of the subscription service, but for now, you’ll have to pay to play.
And further, neither game is running Xbox Play Anywhere support either.
Key Features
- Turn-based combat using Power/Speed/Technical attack dynamics
