It may have been held back for the Sony E3 2017 conference, but today Capcom have revealed that Monster Hunter: World will be coming to Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
The latest entry in the critically acclaimed series marks the first time that a Monster Hunter game will release worldwide simultaneously on Xbox One and PS4. A PC release will then follow at a later date.
But what is it? Well, Monster Hunter: World is the latest entry in the 40 million unit selling action RPG series and will introduce a new living, breathing ecosystem in which players take on the role of a hunter that seeks and slays ferocious beasts.
You’ll be able to expect heart-pounding battles that unfold across the vast ever-changing terrain, and the chance to venture out on quests alone or with up to three hunters in an online drop-in multiplayer system which will also allow cross-region cooperative play between Japan and the west, uniting the player base for the first time ever. Perfect for those times when the opponents are just a little too daunting!
You can also expect to see a totally seamless experience, one which allows players to move freely across map areas that comprise the living ecosystems and dynamically transition from day to night. The landscape and its diverse inhabitants play a critical role in each quest as players strategically use the surrounding environment including terrain, vegetation and wildlife to their advantage in battle or become hindered by the hazards they present. It will therefore be up to the Hunters to use their cunning and skill to track and manoeuvre their targets throughout the intense, evolving battles.
If you’re worried that things may change from before, then you can rest assured that Monster Hunter: World will retain the series’ skill based progression and robust crafting system, as players gear up to venture on quests to seek and slay monsters, progressively improving their skills to become the ultimate hunter. Loot collected from fallen foes can be used to create new equipment and armour upgrades styled after the monsters they’ve slain, allowing hunters to survive the elements and defeat the tougher opponents that await them.
If you’re at E3 2017 and wish to check out World, then you can do so by paying Capcom a little visit. You’ll find them at their booth in South Hall #2023, whilst you can hit up a different offering at the Sony booth in West Hall #4322.
