The Nom
The Nom – out now

There is something instantly intriguing about The Nom. One moment you are human, the next you are an ever-growing creature capable of crawling along walls, absorbing scientists, and disguising yourself as everyday objects.

Now available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, Handheld devices, and via Play Anywhere, The Nom delivers a playful blend of stealth, action, and monster-powered chaos at a budget-friendly price.

Priced at £4.19 for the Standard Edition, with a £4.99 Complete Edition also available, The Nom invites players to embrace their monstrous side while plotting a return to humanity.

At the heart of the experience is a simple but effective hook – defeat the mysterious Dr. Vial, survive hostile facilities, and reclaim what was lost.

A Monster With A Mission

At its core, The Nom is about power and restraint. You are stronger than the guards hunting you, but charging in headfirst is rarely the smartest option. Instead, the game encourages you to think like a predator. Climb walls, strike from above, and when the situation turns dangerous, morph into nearby objects to slip past enemy vision unnoticed.

Absorbing scientists allows you to grow larger and more dangerous, creating a constant push-and-pull between stealth and aggression. The more you consume, the more threatening you become, but the harder it is to stay hidden.

While raw destruction is satisfying, The Nom thrives when it mixes in smart level design and progression systems. As you advance, you can upgrade your creature’s abilities, improving armour, movement speed, growth rate, and special fever charges that turn the tide in tougher encounters.

Certain levels flip expectations entirely. Stealth Mode challenges strip away your ability to attack, forcing careful movement and object morphing to escape unseen. Bonus stages add a competitive twist, pushing guards into the void as collapsing terrain tests your reactions and nerve.

Monster Customisation And DLC Extras

Those wanting to personalise their creature even further can opt for The Nom: Complete Edition, which includes the Monster Madness DLC pack.

This unlocks a huge range of cosmetic skins and morph options, letting you tailor your monster’s appearance while stocking up on extra in-game currency.

Key Features At A Glance

  • Wall-crawling movement and vertical combat
  • Morph into objects to avoid detection
  • Absorb enemies to grow in size and power
  • Stealth-focused levels with no combat allowed
  • Upgradeable stats and abilities
  • Bonus challenge modes and score chasing
  • Extensive cosmetic options via DLC

A Lighthearted Monster Tale Worth Exploring

With support across Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Handheld devices like the ROG Ally, and Play Anywhere, The Nom fits neatly into short sessions or longer runs alike. Whether you are hunting achievements, experimenting with different builds, or simply enjoying the fantasy of becoming the monster, this is a compact adventure with plenty of personality.

For the price of entry, The Nom proves that sometimes the most enjoyable transformations come with a bit of chaos, a lot of creativity, and the constant question of whether it is better to hide… or attack.

I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
