Monstrum to hunt you down on Xbox One, PS4 and Switch this May

-

Monstrum

Monstrum has been doing the rounds on PC for a good number of years already, but today we finally see SOEDESCO confirm the console release date for their survival horror experience. After first being mentioned back in 2018, and seeing the sequel announced a year later, it’s great that we’ll finally be able to get hands on with the monstrous Monstrum.

Coming to Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch on May 22nd 2020, Monstrum will initially arrive as a digital only purchase, with the physical launch delayed until a later date due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But if you’re after a game that promises to combine deadly AI driven predators and permadeath within a procedurally generated container ship level then you’re going to be in luck!.

Delivering a truly re-playable horror experience on the open seas, Monstrum sees players trapped on a massive, derelict cargo ship with no knowledge of how they got there. Standard survival fare, eh? This time round though they will be hunted by a horrific predator, left to scavenge the ship for clues and tools in order to find a means of escape. With little in the way of fighting back against the beast, the only way to survive is to distract, hide, or slow the creature down before running for your life.

One chance, permadeath and no save points means that once you have been killed, you’ll be left to start again from scratch. Things get trickier still when you consider that Monstrum delivers a procedurally generated ship that not only ensures you stay lost in the labyrinth of rooms, pathways, and items that change with each new game, but also randomizes the monster hunting you too. Oh, joy.

Features include:

● Survive a changing environment and monster with each new game
● Use whatever you can find to outwit the monsters and escape the ship
● Hide, distract, and run, but be careful not to fall into the numerous traps
● Death is permanent. Try to stay alive or you’ll have to start all over again

Reckon you can survive Monstrum? Keep an eye out for it on Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch come 22nd May. We’ll be sure to remind you when that day arrives, and we’ll no doubt be able to drop some review thoughts concerning it all too.
