The Safe Place – out now on Xbox, PC and Play Anywhere

Prepare for an emotional journey into the harsh realities of a post-Soviet city with The Safe Place on Xbox, PC and Xbox Play Anywhere.

The Safe Place, a gripping social point-and-click adventure from developer Anate Studio and publisher Restless Corp, is available now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Priced at ÂŁ12.49, this title delves into complex themes of childhood hardship, self-sacrifice, and the spiralling consequences of impossible choices.

A Tangled Web of Secrets and Consequences

Set in the early 1990s during a severe economic crisis, The Safe Place follows Alexander, an ordinary engineer whose life takes a dark turn after a moment of negligence leads to him accidentally killing a man.

The only witness is Christina, a 12-year-old girl with a troubled past of her own. Desperate to avoid the consequences, Alexander strikes a deal: her silence in exchange for his help solving her problems.

What begins as a mutually beneficial, albeit morally grey, agreement quickly descends into a tense tale of unforeseen outcomes. The Safe Place utilises classic point-and-click adventure gameplay – exploring environments, interacting with objects, solving inventory-based puzzles – but intertwines it with dramatic plot twists and significant moral choices.

The developers promise an emotional rollercoaster, taking players from empathy to resentment as the complex relationship between Alexander and Christina unfolds against the backdrop of a struggling city.

The Final Chapter in a Moving Trilogy

The Safe Place marks the third installment in a trilogy of narrative adventures from Anate Studio, following the previously released Little Kite and Repentant.

While telling its own contained story, it continues the developer’s exploration of difficult social themes through atmospheric, hand-painted visuals and engaging point-and-click gameplay.

Xbox Play Anywhere Support Included

Adding extra value for players in the Xbox ecosystem, The Safe Place supports Xbox Play Anywhere. This means if you purchase the game digitally from the Microsoft Store, you automatically own it on both your Xbox console (One or Series X|S) and your Windows PC at no extra charge.

Your progress and achievements will sync between platforms, allowing you to continue Alexander and Christina’s story wherever you prefer to play.

Can You Find Safety in Secrets?

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
