The introduction of summer means one thing in the gaming calendar – the return of annual sports releases! Yes, we will soon be burning rubber on the tracks of F1 and scoring goals in EA’s next iteration of its football franchise. And of course, motorbike fanatics will be going mad for the release of MotoGP 23 on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch and PC.
Iterations and Advancements
We were lucky enough to get our hands on a preview build of MotoGP 23 on Xbox a while back – check out our initial thoughts here – and it seems that the latest instalment in the MotoGP franchise will build upon some key features of MotoGP 22, as well as improve in some key areas.
As well as the standard multiplayer offerings befitting any sports game worth its salt – both split-screen and online multiplayer are here in swathes – the key improvements made this time around focus on the solo side of things, as well as make changes for those getting into the series.
Utilising a machine-learning approach, MotoGP gets all AI on us with a neural aid as a tutorial system: the MotoGP Academy will see you get to grips with the bikes, whilst having a friendly AI ‘on-board’ to guide you through critical parts of the track. This should certainly be the first port of call for players who aren’t too familiar with the complexities of a MotoGP vehicle.
A New Approach to Career Mode
Developers Milestone are keen to show off their shiny new features being brought to Career mode – it’s truly a complete overhaul in this department. Each Career stars your driver at the end of the Moto3 championship, before seeing you progress through to Moto2 and MotoGP. In order to become the best of the best, you’ll have to make upgrades to your bike, before proving yourself on the track and being signed to the top teams.
Soon enough, rivalries with other racers will flare up – it is the true test of a legendary racer to ignore the media storm, and focus on the on-track action. Key Turning Points in your career will call upon you to make the toughest decisions, such as whether to stick with your current team or jump ship – these will have massive implications going forward.
And with the threat of dynamic weather changes hoping to shake up any race, you must be quick in both mind and throttle if you are to adapt to the changing conditions and come out on top.
MotoGP 23 on Xbox, PlayStation and PC is Available Now!
With the introduction of AI-powered tutorials (let’s hope it’s not just ChatGPT behind this), as well as tons of solo and multiplayer offerings, MotoGP 23 is truly for everyone, from the rookie racer to GOAT of the sport.
You can play now on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, Switch and PC. To pick up a copy on Xbox, the Xbox Store has you covered for £59.99.
There are a couple of DLC packs to consider purchasing too. The Special Suits pack will cost £0.79, adding in a couple of, well, special suits. There’s also the £3.99 VIP Multiplier Pack too – that’ll help give a boost to your career mode.
