There’s something brewing in the shadowy streets of Mouseburg, and MOUSE: P.I. For Hire is ready to make its move.

Following confirmation of its April launch date, developers Fumi Games and PlaySide Studios have now pulled back the curtain on everything from pricing and editions to physical releases and Xbox-specific features.

The headline? This stylish, cartoon-noir shooter arrives digitally on April 16th, 2026 across Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, PC (Steam) and Nintendo Switch 2, with Xbox Play Anywhere support in tow.

Oh, and there will be a chunky physical release following later in the year if that is your bag.

A Noir Adventure With A Modern Twist

From the moment it was first revealed, MOUSE: P.I. For Hire has stood out thanks to its striking visual style, blending classic black-and-white cartoon animation with fast-paced shooter gameplay.

You step into the shoes (or paws) of private investigator Jack Pepper, voiced by Troy Baker, as he digs into the corruption, crime and chaos lurking beneath Mouseburg’s surface. Expect a world filled with crooked cops, dangerous gangs and more than a few surprises hiding in the shadows.

It’s a setting that leans heavily into old-school noir storytelling, but with a playful, animated edge that gives it a unique identity.

Digital Launch First, Physical Editions Follow

The game will hit digital storefronts first on April 16th, giving players immediate access across all major current-gen platforms.

However, those who prefer something tangible won’t have to wait too long. A full physical rollout arrives on July 10th, 2026, bringing both a standard boxed version and a much more elaborate collector-style edition.

The “Mouseburg Edition” Deluxe physical release is packed with extras, including a vinyl soundtrack, comic book, posters, trading cards and more – clearly aimed at fans who want to fully immerse themselves in the world.

Xbox Play Anywhere And Cross-Platform Flexibility

For Xbox players, one of the biggest additions is Xbox Play Anywhere support.

This means that purchasing the game digitally allows you to play across both Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC with shared progress and no additional cost. It’s a welcome feature that adds flexibility, especially for those who split their time between platforms.

Deluxe Content And Pre-Purchase Options

On PC, players can already pre-order the game on Steam, with both Standard and Digital Deluxe editions available.

The Digital Deluxe version includes access to a future DLC expansion, alongside bonus content like the full soundtrack and a digital comic book, expanding on the world and characters of Mouseburg.

No Last-Gen Launch – For Now

On the downside, one notable detail is the absence of a day-one release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and the original Nintendo Switch.

While versions for those platforms haven’t been ruled out entirely, they won’t be available at launch, with more details expected at a later date.

For now, this is very much a current-gen focused experience, built with the most modern pieces of hardware in mind.

A Stylish Shooter Worth Watching

With its eye-catching art direction, strong voice talent and a clear love for noir storytelling, MOUSE: P.I. For Hire is shaping up to be one of the more distinctive releases of 2026.

The combination of accessible pricing, multiple editions and Xbox Play Anywhere support only adds to its appeal, making it easy for players to jump in however they choose.

Come April 16th, Mouseburg will open its doors – and it looks like there’ll be plenty of trouble waiting inside.
