Multiple horror stories, various endings – The Creepy Syndrome releases on PC and console

the creepy syndrome

Why scare yourself silly once when you can scare yourself silly four times? That’s the promise of The Creepy Syndrome.

The Creepy Syndrome releases on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and PC to deliver no less than four horror stories the way of gamers, with each running a unique pixel art style, pushing psychological scares as they go.

It comes about via the JanduSoft (recently behind the likes of Zapling Bygone) and Boomfire Games teams as an anthology of horror. Dive in and you’ll discover a series of tales that build in intensity, offering up multiple different artstyles in the process. There’s a bit of properly retro 1-bit in place here with The Creepy Syndrome, as well as some 8-bit, some Gameboy joy and more.

They all focus on the narrative found in the most disturbed of minds, intertwining as they go. And whilst each of the horror stories are different, they all come in line with the same narrative – in a mysterious and strange consultation with the psychiatrist, he analyses you by making you play disturbing video games, with different endings. It’s here where you’ll get to experience past traumas, occult cults, a cursed bunker and much more.

Each has its own unique and distinct meaning, but as you progress through his analysis, everything gets creepier – you don’t know why you’re there, or how it’s all going to end. The question is, will you want to discover the mysterious relationship you have with your psychiatrist?

Priced at £4.19 from the Xbox Store, playable on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S (optimised), we’ll let you know how we find The Creepy Syndrome in full review. You’ll also find this one on PlayStation, Switch and PC.

Game Description:

A psychological horror adventure game. Discover the four interconnected psychological horror stories. Explore different retro pixel art 1 bit to 8 bit environments in each of the stories. From a third person view in the purest retro style to a first person system reminiscent of old labyrinth games.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
