Get ready for a new vision of visceral terror. A gory new trailer has been unleashed for ILL, a realistic first-person survival horror game from debut developer Team Clout.
The project is the first title to be backed by Mundfish Powerhouse, a brand-new development and investment initiative from the creators of the smash-hit Atomic Heart – and the upcoming Atomic Heart 2.
This new trailer showcases the game’s stunningly sleek graphics and the truly grotesque body horror that awaits players. ILL is currently in development for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
What is ILL?
ILL aims to plunge players headlong into an immersive, atmospheric body horror narrative set within a mysterious research fort. Built on the belief that games can go where films can’t – under the skin- the experience is designed to make you not just witness fear, but truly feel it.
The developers, who have experience designing monsters for renowned horror films, promise to deliver pain, dread, and disorientation directly into your hands, with no escape.
Something sinister has awakened within the fort, spawning horrific “Aberrations” that stand between the protagonist and his desperate quest to save what matters most to him.
A New Powerhouse in Horror
This project also marks the debut of Mundfish Powerhouse, a new label from the successful developers of Atomic Heart. More than just a publishing imprint, Powerhouse is a multifunctional creative label created to support ambitious and visionary developers.
By lending consultancy, financial aid, and other resources, Mundfish aims to uplift up-and-coming studios that have yet to establish themselves in the industry.
A Word From the Creators
The teams at both Team Clout and Mundfish shared their excitement for the project and the new partnership.
Max Verehin, Game Director of ILL and CEO of Team Clout, shared the following: “To everyone who’s been excited about ILL from the very beginning – thank you. Your passion and patience have meant everything to us. We also want to thank Mundfish Powerhouse for their unwavering support. Every independent developer knows how challenging it is to bring a vision to life, and the guidance and infrastructure Powerhouse provided have been instrumental in shaping a sustainable path forward for ILL. We reached a significant development milestone and are thrilled to finally start sharing more with you and the wider gaming community. This is just the beginning, so stay tuned for much more to come.”
Speaking on the collaboration, Mundfish CEO Robert Bagratuni, added: “Mundfish Powerhouse is proud to announce our partnership with Team Clout on their upcoming title, ILL. Powerhouse was created to empower daring, visionary developers by providing meaningful support where it matters most. We’re committed to backing artists with bold, transgressive, and uncompromising creative visions – and we believe ILL is a striking example of that spirit.”
Key Features: A Deeper Look into the Terror
- Unflinching Body Horror & Blood-Chilling Audio: ILL pushes the boundaries of the genre with its gory realism. A cutting-edge dismemberment system allows grotesque monsters to be mutilated and mercilessly torn apart. Ripped flesh and exposed bone will combine with a binaural audio system that lets you feel the agony in every scream.
- Dynamic Enemy Behaviour & Realistic Physics: Enemies are unpredictable. Realistic physics make the environment an active part of gameplay, affecting both combat and puzzle-solving. Your actions can cause unexpected reactions from monsters, from impulsive interactions with their surroundings to disturbingly human-like reflexes.
- Tactical Weapon & Resource Management: Feel the weight of every weapon with elaborate animations that reflect their unique physical properties. Survival depends not only on precision but also on maintaining your diverse arsenal, checking for malfunctions, and upgrading. Strategic crafting and inventory management are critical.
ILL is shaping up to be a truly disturbing and technically impressive new entry in the survival horror genre. You can wishlist the game on Steam now, and prepare for its arrival on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC.
