If you suddenly spotted My Little Pony: Magic Princess appearing on the Xbox Store and immediately imagined colourful pony adventures on your console, slow down for a second. There is some important small print attached to this release.
The long-running free-to-play My Little Pony game from Gameloft has officially arrived on the Xbox Store – but it is only playable on PC. Xbox console players cannot download or play it on Series X|S or Xbox One hardware.
Still, for PC players and My Little Pony fans, this marks the arrival of a huge free-to-play adventure that has already spent time building a following on mobile devices.

Bringing Equestria To PC Players
Based on the My Little Pony animated series, Magic Princess mixes city-building mechanics with character collection, quests and mini-games set across the world of Equestria.
Players join Twilight Sparkle, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy and the rest of the familiar cast as they rebuild locations, complete storylines and unlock hundreds of characters pulled from across the franchise.
And when we say hundreds, we mean hundreds. The game boasts more than 600 unlockable characters, alongside locations including Canterlot, the Crystal Empire and Sweet Apple Acres. That is a lot of ponies to keep organised.
More Than Just A Simple Mobile Port
While the game originally launched on mobile platforms, Magic Princess has continued expanding over time with new events, cosmetics, quests and seasonal content.
The gameplay revolves around building and customising towns, farming resources, taking on quests inspired by the TV series and playing mini-games themed around different characters. There is also a strong social element, with online events and competitions encouraging players to keep checking back in regularly.
Console Players Still Have Pony Options
Although Magic Princess is not playable on Xbox consoles, there are already a couple of dedicated My Little Pony games available for console play.
We previously reviewed My Little Pony: A Maretime Bay Adventure, although that one landed with a disappointing 2/5 score from us. Thankfully, My Little Pony: A Zephyr Heights Mystery fared much better, earning a solid 4/5 review score thanks to its fun story and varied gameplay ideas.
So while console players miss out on Magic Princess itself, the franchise still has a presence on Xbox platforms.
Friendship Is Still Apparently Magic
Free-to-play mobile games making their way onto the Xbox Store for PC is becoming increasingly common, and My Little Pony: Magic Princess is the latest example of that trend.
For younger players, long-time fans of the show or anyone who simply wants a colourful city-builder packed with familiar characters, there is a lot of content waiting here – provided you are playing on PC. Just maybe prepare for a very crowded town once all 600 ponies move in.
