iRacing is pulling back the curtain on NASCAR 25, the next installment in the long-running racing franchise.
Coming to PC and consoles this fall, NASCAR 25 promises a new level of authenticity and immersion for NASCAR fans. A recent developer diary video, featuring racing legend Dale Earnhardt Jr., 2024 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Champion Ty Majeski, and members of the development team, provides an exciting look at the game’s all-new Career Mode.
From Backyard Garage to NASCAR Champion
NASCAR 25’s Career Mode starts you at the very beginning of your racing journey, tinkering away in your backyard garage. You’ll customise your vehicle and begin your climb through the ranks, starting with the ARCA Menards Series.
But it’s not just about winning races; you’ll need to manage contracts, earn money, hire staff, expand your facilities, and even make public appearances to build your reputation. Strategic decisions off the track are just as important as your performance on it, as you strive to become a NASCAR Cup Series champion.
Four Premier Series, One Authentic Experience
NASCAR 25 will feature all four premier NASCAR series: the NASCAR Cup Series, Xfinity Series, Craftsman Truck Series, and, for the first time in a standalone NASCAR title, the ARCA Menards Series.
All four series, along with their real-world drivers, will be integrated into the Career Mode and other gameplay modes, including quick races, seasons, and online multiplayer.
A Legacy of Racing
iRacing, known for its hyper-realistic motorsport simulation, brings its decades of racing expertise to NASCAR 25.
The development team includes veterans who worked on fan-favorite NASCAR games like NASCAR Racing 2003, NASCAR: Dirt to Daytona, and entries from the NASCAR Thunder series. This pedigree promises a deep and authentic racing experience that captures the thrill of NASCAR.
A New Era for NASCAR Games?
NASCAR 25 has the potential to be a significant step forward for the NASCAR gaming franchise. With iRacing’s focus on simulation and realism, combined with the experience of developers who have worked on beloved NASCAR titles in the past, fans have reason to be optimistic.
It’s worth noting that not all recent NASCAR games have hit the mark. Our review of NASCAR Arcade Rush (developed by a different studio in Team6 Game Studios) in 2023 gave it a 2.5/5, criticising its “tedious affair,” “atrocious camera angle,” and “limited game modes.”
However, NASCAR 25 appears to be taking a different approach, focusing on delivering a more authentic and immersive experience that caters to dedicated NASCAR fans.
The Road Ahead
With its in-depth Career Mode, realistic gameplay, and the inclusion of all four premier NASCAR series, NASCAR 25 is shaping up to be an exciting new entry in the franchise.
NASCAR enthusiasts can look forward to hitting the track and experiencing the thrill of stock car racing when the game launches on PC and consoles this fall.
