Five Legends, Five Very Different Ways To Play
The 2000s Legends pack is built around five players who each brought something distinctive to the court. Now, their individual strengths are being translated into NBA THE RUN’s exaggerated, above-the-rim brand of streetball.
Allen Iverson arrives with the ball-handling skills that made him such a nightmare for defenders, giving players the chance to cross up opponents with his trademark style. Vince Carter, meanwhile, is all about spectacular finishes. His high-flying dunks should make him a natural choice for anyone who likes to turn a fast break into a highlight-reel moment.
Then there’s Tracy McGrady, whose slashing game and scoring ability make him a threat from anywhere on the court. If you’d rather dominate defensively, Kevin Garnett brings ferocious defence and the ability to lock down opposing players. Rounding out the roster is Dirk Nowitzki, whose smooth shooting and trademark fadeaway provide a different kind of attacking threat. His ability to rain down three-pointers should make him an appealing option for players who prefer to stretch the defence.
More Than Just A Legends Roster
The update goes beyond the five new players, introducing a collection of additions designed to expand the wider NBA THE RUN experience.
A new court inspired by Dyckman in New York City joins the game’s selection of streetball locations. The court is playable in both daytime and tournament variants, bringing another distinctive setting to the competition.
Players can also experiment with the new overhead Drive Cam and Drive Flip Cam, offering alternative perspectives on the action. New dunks, taunts, original music and the game’s first licensed tracks add further personality, while a championship belt gives tournament winners something extra to celebrate.
Further are two particularly useful additions that give players more control over how they play. Custom Matches allow friends to create private online games, choosing their preferred court and ruleset for a one-off showdown. Practice Mode, meanwhile, lets players select a court and ruleset before taking on AI opponents, providing a space to sharpen their skills.
The update also brings gameplay adjustments, including new standing dunks, driving layups, additional advanced moves, continued player tuning and changes to goaltending.
A Throwback With Plenty Of Streetball Swagger
We awarded NBA THE RUN 3.5/5 in our review, praising its pick-up-and-play appeal and its ability to capture the spirit of arcade basketball. We also noted that the game really comes alive online or with friends, where its competitive nature has room to shine. As we put it, “It absolutely has that brilliant pick-up-and-play feel I remember so fondly.”
Whether you’re looking to recreate some classic basketball magic or simply fancy taking Iverson’s handles, Carter’s aerial antics or Dirk’s shooting into a streetball showdown, NBA THE RUN’s 2000s Legends DLC offers a nostalgic trip with a fresh competitive twist.
