As a game, No Man’s Sky has been able to deliver the highest of highs, and the lowest of lows. But in recent times, it’s been all about looking forward and the next free update to hit the game will ensure that once more things become reinvented.

The seventh major free update for No Man’s Sky is that of Beyond, with it pushing out to all Xbox One, PS4 an PC players at no extra cost on Wednesday 14th August. This latest addition to the space adventure sees three major updates rolled into one larger free release, providing access to No Man’s Sky Online, a radical new social and multiplayer experience that empowers players everywhere in the universe to meet and play together.

The Beyond launch also delivers No Man’s Sky Virtual Reality to supporting platforms – yeah okay, so us XO gamers miss out on that – bringing the entire game to life in an immersive and enriched VR experience.

In terms of sheer size, Beyond is more than comparable to the massively popular NEXT update which hit No Man’s Sky last year, and will once again push the imagination to new levels. With a whole galaxy to explore – one that is filled with unique planets and lifeforms, constant danger and action – No Man’s Sky provides a gaming experience like no other, letting us drop in to unique planets that no one else has seen before – and perhaps never will again.

If you’re a fan of what Hello Games have created with the development side of No Man’s Sky, and need a little push to get back to the exploration, then this Beyond update may yet be the one to move it on. If you haven’t yet tried it out, get yourself a download of the game from the Xbox Store right now.

Give it a shot come 14th August and let us know what you think of No Man’s Sky as a whole by dropping into the comments.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
