If you like Peggle and Peggle 2, there’s a pretty high chance you’re going to fall in love with Roundguard. Especially now that the latest update has ushered forth a whole new hero.
Having first launched on Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch in the early part of 2020, Roundguard delivered a pretty nifty little Peggle-styled dungeon crawling experience. But one of the things that let it down in those early days was a slight lack of heroes. It’s great to therefore see Wonderbelly Games build it out with another new character.
Following on from the Treasure Hunter update which was pushed out shortly after launch, bringing with it new challenges and a new enemy, comes the Druid update. It’s this which adds in a new playable hero – Sprig – who (as the name suggests) is a tender shoot fresh from the wilds. She’s also up for planting grass and taking names as she does so.Â
Sprig is sure to inject a plentiful amount of new ideas and strategies into Roundguard, and it’s with her new skills, new items and new quests that you’ll be finding reason to fire up Roundguard and ping some heroes through their dungeons.Â
Latest key features of Roundguard include:
- Bouncy Fun: Intuitive pinball physics-based gameplay like no other dungeon crawler.
- Multiple Classes: Play as the Warrior, the Rogue, the Wizard, or the Druid each with their own unique skills, items, and cheeky sense of humor.
- Randomized Dungeon: Each time you play, levels are procedurally generated, and quest events and elite monsters are randomly placed.
- Permadeath with Benefits: When you die, you’ll have a chance to bring a special trinket with you on your next run. The more gold you grab, the more powerful the trinket!
- A Cast of Oddballs: Chat with the castle’s colorful cast to pick up quests. You’ll meet a goblin poet, a smarmy teenage skeleton, a dark elf master chef, and tons more.
- Lots of Loot: Over 200 items and trinkets, each with effects that present strategic choices and combo possibilities.
- Show Off Your Skills: Compete on the leaderboards and try to master all the challenging, rule-bending relics. Test yourself in the daily and weekly challenges to earn new rewards and bragging rights.
You’ll find the new Druid update and Roundguard as a whole present and available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch and PC through Steam. It’s also available on the Apple Arcade should you prefer to get your gaming kicks that way.
If you haven’t yet picked up Roundguard you’ll find it on the Xbox Store for £16.74 or in the Cartoon Puzzler Bundle with Tumblestone for £27.99.
