Frontier Developments have just unveiled their most ambitious expansion to-date for the ever-evolving MMO space sim Elite Dangerous. Prepare for the likes of on-foot exploration and combat to be at the forefront when Elite Dangerous: Odyssey launches in the early part of 2021.
Elite Dangerous: Odyssey, the upcoming major expansion for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC, marks the beginning of a rather exciting new era for what’s often considered as the definitive space simulation. It will allow you to touch down on countless new planets powered by stunning new tech as well as explore with unrestricted freedom on the ground from a first-person perspective.
Taking life on the frontier of space to new depths, Odyssey’s emergent gameplay will let you forge your own path through a wide variety of missions; these range from diplomacy and commerce to lethal stealth and all-out combat. There are plenty of diverse settings, objectives, and NPCs which will offer endless mission variety and an almost infinite amount of content to partake in. Conflict will also rage on as you venture into this intense combat experience. Therefore, coordinating with your teammates and choosing the right equipment for the mission at hand will be key to master a multi-layered, tactical sphere of group combat where Commanders, SRVs and starships converge.
“Odyssey is our most ambitious Elite Dangerous expansion to date,” said David Braben, Founder and CEO of Frontier. “Extending coverage to the super-fine scale that is needed for on-foot gameplay while maintaining the vast raw distances measured in light years, is a huge achievement by the team, and greatly extends the already rich Elite Dangerous experience. We hope you will join us to continue this journey of discovery and adventure when Elite Dangerous: Odyssey launches in early 2021.”
Though the Elite Dangerous universe can be a somewhat cutthroat, unforgiving place, you’ll find relief and be able to regroup in social hubs spread across the galaxy to plan your next contracts, form new alliances and even procure the coveted services of the Engineers. These public spaces shall also be the ideal place to acquire and upgrade weapons and gear to suit your very own gaming style.
Does Elite Dangerous: Odyssey sound like an expansion you wish to delve into? Well if so, just hang tight until early 2021, which is when it’s expected to dock onto Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Steam for PC!
