Next-Gen releases are ‘crashing’ onto our consoles thick and fast now, and with the release of Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, we suspect many of you will already be struggling for hard drive space.
Having released back in October 2020, many may already be familiar with the punishingly difficult platforming that Crash Bandicoot 4 brings. It was pretty enough then, but this next-gen update will add an extra layer of shine to our favourite marsupial.
But for those that missed it, Crash Bandicoot is once again tasked with saving the world. He uses the abilities of the mythical Quantum Masks. These masks give Crash some new abilities, whether that be slowing down time, subvert gravity or even see into the future. This time though, Dr. Neo Cortex is on your side, and he is even a playable character. You can also control Coco at any point, Crash’s girlfriend Tawna and even Dingodile gets a piece of the action.
For existing owners, this next-gen update is free for you. But what you get out of it, depends on which Xbox you were lucky enough to get.
For Xbox Series S owners, Crash 4 will be scaled up to a 4K resolution. For Xbox Series X owners, it will run smoothly at 4K and 60fps. Loading times will be improved across the board, which will come in handy for the amount of deaths you will have whilst playing.
This new and improved Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time works with Smart Delivery on Xbox, allowing it to be played on Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S for a price of £59.99. It promises the same gameplay as the original release; that is, supremely hard yet satisfying platforming, but looking so much better than before. Will this 4K upscaling mean you will suddenly be better at the game? That’s pretty unlikely, but it will be worth a try.
