Next Up Hero announced for Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch release

-

When the developer of Scribblenauts, Drawn to Life and the awesome Lock’s Quest decides to hit the gaming masses with a new game, you really do have to prepare yourself for something special. And that’s exactly what is happening today with the announcement of Next Up Hero.

Coming to Xbox One, PS4, PC and Switch in early 2018, Next up Hero is the first original title to come from Digital Continue, the development studio founded by gaming veteran Joe Tringali. An arcade action-adventure driven by Community Continue, you will take turns fighting – and dying – in community game sessions, as you try to work together in order to conquer impossibly hard monsters and bosses, one hero at a time.

Nine heroes will be present to choose from, and a whole host of weapons and abilities will be available so you can run your playthrough the way you want. You’ll have access to swords and rocket launchers, laser turrets, bongo drums, and boomerangs.

But dying in Next Up Hero isn’t the end of the game, as when things get a bit too tough you’ll leave behind an Echo of your hero on the battlefield. The next in the line of heroes will be able to resurrect your Echo as an AI battle companion and so you’ll begin to take turns continuing friends’ games, fighting and dying until you have an entire army of Echoes by your side, and enough strength to finally defeat those monsters.

Keep an eye out for Next Up Hero coming to a console near you in the months ahead. Just remember though – everyone dies, but it is the heroes which continue.
