No Ammo? No Problem! Retaliate Injects a Twist into the Classic Shoot ’em Up

Retaliate
Retaliate – a twist to the shoot ’em up scene

If you think you have the reaction-speeds necessary to keep up with a colourful and chaotic vertically-scrolling shoot ‘em up, then perhaps Retaliate is for you.

Posed as a shooter that combines the shield bubble properties of Overwatch’s Zarya with the fast-paced frenzy of Galaga, this one will see you chasing high scores into the wee hours of the day.

A Unique Twist!

Now available on Xbox, PlayStation and PC, you may believe Retaliate is impossible to beat down to just one reason. You have zero ammo! Instead, you must use your shield to absorb enemy ships, in order to take their weapons as your own. Only then, can you Retaliate!

And there is a huge plethora of weapons that one can use, from a single blaster taking down one ship at a time, to devastating lasers and multi-shot options.

There’s many different modes to enjoy also, such as the classic Story mode, score-chasing Endless mode, and the old-school Classic mode. Players can also customise the colour of their ship and shields in the Hangar.

Key Features

  • An arcade style Story Mode with a limited number of lives and the very real possibility of seeing a “Game Over” screen.
  • Multiple mini game modes: Endless – challenge yourself to get the highscore with a single life, Trials – attempt to 100% clear any level by destroying every enemy, Classic – experience a recreation of the original proof of concept.
  • Retro inspired art style that is both modern and nostalgic.
  • Full OST to set the mood as you’re vibing (or panicking) through combat.

Available Today!

Retaliate is now available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4 and PC. Whilst we blast through the levels ourselves for our review of Retaliate on Xbox, you can pick up a copy via the Xbox Store for £7.99.

Retaliate Description

Retaliate is a retro inspired scrolling shooter with a twist, you start with no ammo!

Unlike those in the golden era of space shooters you are not so fortunate as to have infinite ammo. Instead use your shield to both destroy your enemies and absorb their weapons, then use your enemies’ weapons to retaliate!
