Neon Giant is returning to the spotlight with No Law, a first-person open-world shooter RPG that sees the studio behind The Ascent step into darker, moodier territory.
Revealed during The Game Awards 2025 and published by KRAFTON, No Law is currently in development for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, promising a gritty cyber-noire adventure built on revenge, consequence, and the grim underbelly of Port Desire.
A Story Of Quiet Lives, Broken Peace, And A City With No Rules
At the heart of No Law is Grey Harker, an ex-military operative who walked away from war to live quietly among his plants. That fleeting peace doesn’t last. When violence rips his new life apart, Harker is dragged back into a world fuelled by corruption, neon shadows, and hard choices.
No Law sets its tone immediately – this is a story where every action changes the path ahead, and every decision pushes Harker closer to justice, revenge, or something far murkier.
Port Desire is more than a backdrop. It is a character in its own right. Suspended between crumbling cliff faces and a restless ocean, the city thrives on black markets, loose bonds, and even looser morals. From rooftop gardens to narrow alleys buzzing with life, No Law creates a world that reacts to you, challenges you, and tempts you to push the boundaries of what’s right.
Every encounter offers branching approaches. Slip through shadows, negotiate with shady locals, or kick down the door and let chaos answer for you. No Law is built on player agency, meaning the consequences of your run-ins and alliances ripple across your entire playthrough.
Power, Choice, And Firepower In A City That Plays By Its Own Rules
Combat is designed to be both personal and unforgiving. Neon Giant is leaning heavily into player expression, encouraging experimentation with futuristic tools, weapon mods, tactical upgrades, and urban traversal. Whether you favour sniper precision, stealthy infiltration, or explosive force, No Law ensures that the way you fight becomes part of your story.
A Studio Leveling Up Its Ambition
The team at Neon Giant is treating No Law as a pivotal moment in their evolution, something Managing Director Claës af Burén emphasised:
“NO LAW represents the next step for us as a studio,” said Claës af Burén, Managing Director at Neon Giant. “With The Ascent, we built a strong foundation for how we approach worldbuilding, systems, and storytelling. This new project takes everything we’ve learned and applies it to a completely different kind of experience — one that’s bigger, more reactive, and more personal than anything we’ve done before.”
KRAFTON is backing the project as part of its expanding portfolio, supporting bold new worlds with strong creative identities.
A Revenge Story With Sharp Edges And Sharper Consequences
No Law is shaping up to be an immersive take on cyber-noire storytelling, steeped in atmosphere and moral ambiguity. With Harker’s past closing in, Port Desire breathing down his neck, and a world eager to tempt him into darkness, every corner of the city holds new possibilities.
Expect more in the coming months, including deeper dives into missions, upgrades, and the reactive world Neon Giant is building.
No Law will launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
