No Man’s Sky NEXT release date confirmed for Xbox One, PS4 and PC

-

It’s the big update that sees No Man’s Sky gain multiplayer and also hit Xbox One, and Hello Games have now confirmed exactly when we’ll be seeing the expansion to the previous non-Xbox procedural universe!

So, No Man’s Sky NEXT will launch on Xbox One in North America on July 24th 2018, with a European release dropping a few days later on July 27th. This will be the first time we see any sign of No Man’s Sky hitting Xbox One, and it’s something many gamers should be hotly anticipating.

But what of the game on PS4 and PC? Well, the NEXT update will be arriving for free at the same time for those players to get involved in.

“Multiplayer completely changes the No Man’s Sky experience, it’s emergent, fun and intense in ways we always wanted it to be. I’m so happy this is finally happening” said Sean Murray, founder, Hello Games. “It is genuinely exciting to be able to fully realise the potential so many people could see in No Man’s Sky. This will be our biggest update yet and we’re pumped to be bringing Xbox players along on the journey with us now too.”

See, it is with this launch that players across Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC will be able to explore, fight and survive with friends, voyaging across the vast, procedurally-generated sandbox universe in multiplayer.

Features include:

  • Explore the infinite universe with your friends, or bump into random travellers.
  • As you voyage together, friends will help you stay alive, or prey on others to survive.
  • Build bases from tiny shelters to complex colonies that you create as a team and can be seen by the community.
  • Be a pirate or a wingman in epic space battles with friends and foes
  • Race exocraft across weird alien terrains, create tracks to share online

We’ll be finding that the Xbox One launch of No Man’s Sky will not just include Next, but also 3 other major updates – those of Foundation, Pathfinder, and Atlas Rises – and dozens of smaller patches. With 505 Games distributing the physical version, and a digital option available from the usual Microsoft Store, it’s an exciting time to be an Xbox One gamer… especially if you love classic science fiction and are looking for a huge galaxy to explore.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
