You’ve probably heard of, and played, Dead Cells. If you haven’t, you should stop reading right now and get on it – it’s that good. It’s a game that has gathered up much acclaim for good reason, but now the creator behind it is looking to the future… and that future comes in the form of Nuclear Blaze.

Sébastien Bénard is behind Nuclear Blaze, and after putting together Dead Cells, hopes are obviously extremely high for what is next from this mind. This time around though, Bénard will have a bit of help, calling on the Red Art Games team to port it to console.

Nuclear Blaze is due to release on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation and Switch in 2023, with Red Art (previously behind Sturmfront – The Mutant War: Übel Edition and Arietta of Spirits) behind the digital console push and a possible physical release too (to be confirmed, more details to follow).

When it arrives Nuclear Blaze will be delivered as a dynamic 2D action game in which we get the chance to assume the role of an experienced firefighter, one that just so happens to have been dropped into the middle of a massive fire.

It’ll be up to you to keep the flames under control, all with the use of his trusty hose. But you’ll also need to investigate the circumstances behind the catastrophe and to complete the perilous mission, the player can rely on smooth controls and tight gameplay mechanics

The celebrated Game Designer rejoices about Nuclear Blaze’s upcoming console release and his collaboration with Red Art Games: “Working with Red Art Games truly was a great pleasure. I know full well that this is what everybody is expecting to read in a press release but in this case, the team put in some meticulous and high quality work, which made the console port of Nuclear Blaze possible.

Nuclear Blaze Description:

A huge fire is raging and you are sent on the spot to stop it. Business as usual for a highly-trained and experienced firefighter such as yourself. Air dropped right in the middle of this blazing inferno, your main mission objectives are to contain the fire, investigate its causes and look for survivors. The unexpected discovery of a secret military facility is quickly going to send a monkey wrench in your plans. Unravel the truth behind the existence of Site 16 and A-█████. Access to that information may require authorization clearance ████ and ██ though…

In addition to Nuclear Blaze’s main mode, there will also be a special Kid Mode created with younger players – those aged 3 and up – in mind. This mode has its own specific, easier levels, an immortal hero, simplified controls (with auto-aim) and tons of helicopters and trucks!

But further to that, Nuclear Blaze’s console version also includes the “Hold my Beer” Mode which adds hidden areas in all levels as well as new threats that require a more precise and tactical approach. Basically put, on consoles, gamers will get the complete Nuclear Blaze experience.

When it arrives on Xbox, PlayStation and Switch, the key features will include:

  • Unique 2D firefighting game
  • Smooth controls and gameplay mechanics
  • Beautiful pixel art graphics
  • Finely tuned difficulty settings
  • Kid Mode with special levels and controls created for younger players
  • “Hold my Beer” Mode adding hidden areas as well as new threats and tactical elements
  • Hidden cats to save

Ready for some firefighting action? We’ll be sure to keep you in the loop in regards Nuclear Blaze and the 2023 launch on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch. For now, the trailer will sort you out.
