Mirrors of Deception The Poisoned Legacy
Mirrors of Deception The Poisoned Legacy – just one of 3 new Ocean Media games

It’s not often that three games from the same publisher turn up on Xbox on the same day, but Ocean Media has decided to keep things interesting.

Today brings Weekend Solitaire: Summer Village, Chronicles Of Albian: The Magic Convention and Mirrors of Deception: The Poisoned Legacy to Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, offering three very different ways to spend your time.

Whether you fancy relaxing with a deck of cards, searching a magical castle for hidden objects or getting involved in a rather suspicious murder, there’s something here to suit the mood.

At A Glance

  • Weekend Solitaire: Summer Village: ÂŁ5.79 – Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S
  • Chronicles Of Albian: The Magic Convention: ÂŁ8.39 – Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S
  • Mirrors of Deception: The Poisoned Legacy: ÂŁ8.39 – Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S
  • Publisher: Ocean Media LLC

Weekend Solitaire: Summer Village

If your idea of a good time involves putting your feet up and working through a stack of cards with a bit of solitaire, Weekend Solitaire: Summer Village should fit the bill.

There are 130 levels to work through, with different difficulties designed to test your solitaire skills without straying too far from the game’s bright and summery presentation. Colourful animations and vibrant surroundings provide the backdrop as you work through the various card configurations.

At ÂŁ5.79, it’s the cheapest of today’s three releases and perhaps the most straightforward option for anyone after something they can dip into for a few minutes or settle down with for longer sessions.

Chronicles Of Albian: The Magic Convention

Things get considerably more magical with Chronicles Of Albian: The Magic Convention.

The Fairy Godmother, Gwendolyn, has a rather large event to organise at Albian Castle, with wizards and sorcerers from around the world preparing to descend on the place for the Convention of Magic Masters. There’s just one problem – the castle needs work before the guests arrive.

Players will need to put their hidden object skills to work, finding treasures that can help fund repairs and upgrades around the castle. Alongside the hidden object scenes are puzzles to solve, quirky characters to meet and plenty of castle exploration.

The game also includes a zoom feature for its hidden object scenes, which should come in handy when those elusive objects are hiding amongst everything else on screen.

We previously reviewed Chronicles of Albian 3: The Vanishing Village Collector’s Edition, awarding it 3.5/5. At the time, we noted that the game could have been sensational at a shorter length, while describing it as a useful blueprint for how a better hidden object game could be made.

Now there’s another trip to Albian Castle waiting for Xbox players.

Mirrors Of Deception: The Poisoned Legacy

The third arrival takes things in a much darker direction. Mirrors of Deception: The Poisoned Legacy once again puts Agatha Hastings at the centre of a murder investigation, although this time her visit to the Thompson estate quickly turns into something considerably more sinister.

Charles Thompson is dead, and the polite conversations taking place around the mansion aren’t quite as innocent as they first appear. Inheritance disputes, old grudges and long-hidden family secrets all become part of Agatha’s investigation as she attempts to work out who is telling the truth.

The investigation stretches across 140 clutter puzzles, with another 20 bonus puzzle challenges included for those who aren’t ready to put their detective hat away.

It’s another Ocean Media hidden object release, which brings us to a previous entry in the Mirrors of Deception series that we reviewed. Mirrors Of Deception: The Silver Peaks Secret received 1/5 from us, with our review questioning the direction of the series and its approach. So yeah, be warned…

Three Games, Three Very Different Moods

So, three Ocean Media games arrive on Xbox today, and they aren’t exactly variations on the same theme.

Weekend Solitaire: Summer Village is the laid-back option, Chronicles Of Albian: The Magic Convention heads into fantasy territory, while Mirrors of Deception: The Poisoned Legacy offers a darker detective story.

All three are now available on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, with prices ranging from ÂŁ5.79 to ÂŁ8.39. Whether you’re in the mood for cards, magic or murder, Ocean Media has covered quite a bit of ground in a single launch day.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
