Once Human Is Out Now And Free On Xbox, Game Pass And PlayStation

Once Human has arrived on Xbox Series X|S, Game Pass and PlayStation 5, bringing its strange, supernatural take on the survival genre to consoles – and it’s completely free to start playing.

Already available on PC, where it has picked up Very Positive user reviews on Steam, the console launch gives more players the chance to step into a post-apocalyptic world transformed by a mysterious substance known as Stardust. And with cross-play and cross-progression supported from launch, there should be plenty of opportunity to survive alongside others, regardless of platform.

A Strange New World To Survive

Once Human drops players into a world that has been fundamentally changed by Stardust. Plants, animals and people have been affected, creating a dangerous landscape filled with strange creatures and supernatural threats.

As one of the Meta-Humans able to harness the power of Stardust, players are left to explore, scavenge, build and fight their way through a huge open world. Survival is the priority, whether that means heading out alone, joining up with friends or simply focusing on creating a safe place to call home.

There are plenty of ways to approach life in Once Human too, with exploration, combat, farming, hunting and base building all forming part of the experience.

However, one of the notable additions accompanying the console launch is a new first-person perspective, giving players the freedom to switch between first and third-person views. Console players can also expect cross-play and cross-progression support from day one, making it easier to continue progress and play alongside others across the available formats.

Build A Base And Make Some Unusual Friends

Like any good survival game, building a secure base is an important part of Once Human. Players can establish a home out in the wilderness, customise it to their liking and use traps and defences to help protect valuable resources.

But the world is also home to Deviants – unusual creatures that can become useful companions. These range from combat helpers to creatures capable of assisting with gathering and maintaining your territory, adding another layer to the survival loop.

It sounds like Once Human is keen to make sure the apocalypse is never quite as lonely as it should be.

Time To See If You Can Survive

Once Human is now available for free on Xbox Series X|S, Game Pass (all tiers), PlayStation 5 and PC, with Xbox Play Anywhere support also included.

But whilst the Standard Edition of Once Human is free to download, Xbox players could previously have also picked up a couple of additional packs. The Once Human Starter Pack was priced at £8.39, while the Once Human Radiance Pack came in at £12.49.

With its huge supernatural world, survival systems, base building, strange companion creatures and the option to team up through cross-platform play, there’s plenty here for those looking for something a little different from the usual post-apocalyptic adventure. And at free-to-play, there’s very little stopping you from finding out just how strange this particular world really gets.
