5 more games – 1 button – Vol 4

How much can you really do with a single button? That question returns once again with the launch of One Button Games 5-in-1 Vol. 4.

Now available on Xbox Series X|S (Optimised), Xbox One, and Windows PC for £4.19. The latest entry in Xitilon’s minimalist arcade experiment continues to explore just how far simple inputs can stretch creativity.

Published by Xitilon and developed by Apapappa Games, this fourth volume keeps the concept intact – five distinct micro-games, one button, countless taps.

Five Games, One Input

As the title suggests, Vol. 4 delivers five compact arcade-style experiences, each built around a single input mechanic. That means every action, whether jumping, attacking, dodging, or interacting, stems from tapping or holding just one button.

The appeal lies in how differently each game interprets that limitation. Some rely on timing. Others on rhythm. A few lean into reflex-heavy chaos. The constraint becomes the design hook.

A Series That’s Been Finding Its Feet

The One Button Games series has had a varied journey so far.

Our original One Button Games 5-in-1 review landed at 2.5/5, where we described it as: “something of a mixed bag that averages out in the 2.5 out of 5 range. As an experiment – something that scratches the itch of whether games can work with one button – One Button Games 5-in-1 might be worth £4.19 to find out for yourself.”

Vol. 2 dipped slightly further in our estimation with a 2/5 score, as we questioned whether the novelty could sustain enjoyment.

But then came Vol. 3, which earned a more positive 3/5: “One Button Games 5-in-1 vol. 3 is a huge improvement over the previous two games… The one-button barrier, plus the rudimentary nature of the graphics, just wasn’t going to lead to anything worthwhile.”

Budget Arcade Simplicity

At ÂŁ4.19, One Button Games 5-in-1 Vol. 4 remains firmly in impulse-buy territory. These are short-form experiences designed for quick bursts rather than long campaigns. Stay tuned for our full review very soon.

As with previous entries, three separate versions are available across Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Windows PC, each with its own achievement list.

There’s also the broader One Button Games 5-in-1 All Volumes Bundle available for £12.49, combining this and previous volumes into a single package for players curious about the full experiment.

Can Less Still Be More?

One Button Games 5-in-1 Vol. 4 continues a series built on restriction. It’s a reminder that limitations often spark creativity, but they also raise expectations.

Available now on Xbox Series X|S (fully optimised), Xbox One, and Windows PC, this latest collection once again asks players to do more with less. One button. Five games. And plenty of chances to prove that simplicity doesn’t have to mean shallow.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
