Outbreak: Epidemic now available in Definitive Edition on Xbox Series X

The infection has gone nationwide and only you can put a stop to the threat to humanity. Are you ready for Outbreak: Epidemic Definitive Edition on Xbox Series X?

We’ll be honest, the whole Outbreak situation is getting out of control in more ways than one. Putting the entire ‘life is on the brink’ exercise to one side for a minute and the sheer number of ‘Outbreak’ titles that have come out of the Dead Drop Studios team in recent times is bordering on farcical. You see, we’ve got Outbreak: Lost Hope, Outbreak: The Nightmare Chronicles, Outbreak Narrative Collection, Outbreak Co-Op Nightmares, Outbreak: The Undying Collection, Outbreak: Lydia’s Nightmare, Outbreak Ultimate Apocalypse, Outbreak Co-Op Collection, Outbreak: Gwen’s Nightmare and Outbreak: Epidemic already available from the Xbox Store for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.

But then you can also throw in Outbreak: The Nightmare Chronicles Definitive Edition, Outbreak: Lost Hope Definitive Edition and now Outbreak: Epidemic Definitive Edition too.

That’s A LOT of Outbreaks in one confined place. And really, we all know how that is going to go – even more so when you consider we’re probably nowhere near the end of the line yet.

But anyways, if you like Outbreak and consider what Dead Drop have created to be something special, you’re going to be in luck here today with the latest release – Epidemic: Definitive Edition.

This follows on from the previous release of Epidemic just about a year ago to deliver what to us seems like exactly the same game, just with Xbox Series X|S optimisation at the fore of things. In fact, going from the Xbox Store description alone, we’re seeing a host of copy and pasted text, and the exact same visuals just with those next-gen goodies slapped on top. Does that warrant a whole new purchase for £12.49, a price that is in itself higher than the standard Xbox One edition? Well, we’re not going to tell you what to do with your money, but it does seem a little cheeky, particularly when we consider the whole Smart Delivery, next-gen free updates that many titles have been allowed.

Features include the exact same ideas as last time:

  • Co-op: Play the entire game in 2-player local co-op!
  • Hardcore Survival Horror: You only have one life, make it count!
  • OTS: Claustrophobic over-the-shoulder gameplay brings the nightmare alive.
  • Defense: Utilize numerous firearm and melee weapons against the undead.
  • Limited Inventory: Manage your inventory and supplies carefully!
  • Explore: In Campaign Mode search areas, read logs, find keys and solve puzzles to survive.
  • Difficult: Play across multiple difficulty modes.
  • Story Mode: Experience the epidemic first hand as you fight through the story.
  • Onslaught Mode: Take out hordes of the undead with limited supplies.
  • Experiments Mode: Bonus modes with a unique spin on survival horror.

But hey, if you want to get involved with Outbreak: Epidemic, aren’t yet tired of the numerous additions to the series and are fine with splashing out cash on an extremely similar game as to previous, feel free to fill your boots. You’ll find the Xbox Store holds the key to any such download.

Game Description:

The infection goes nation-wide in Outbreak: Epidemic, an action-focused co-op survival horror adventure. Featuring the great Outbreak series gameplay with greater mobility, crushing difficulty and more camera options than ever before. Alone or in 2-player local co-op, fight through the Campaign story mode, the wave-based Onslaught Mode and all new Experiments Mode scenarios. Choose your survivor, class and level up to unlock new buffs for your survivor as you face the nightmare. You’ll need to manage your inventory and supplies carefully, so make every bullet count!
